Welcome to my walkthrough series of Pokemon Stadium 2! In this playthrough, I will cover the gameplay of all the Pokemon Stadium 2 Cups (including Pokemon Stadium 2 R2): Johto Gym Leader Castle, Kanto Gym Leader Castle, Poke Cup, Prime Cup, Challenge Cup, Little Cup, and the final showdown against The Rival: the final boss of this game! Poké Cup (Japanese: ニンテンドウカップ Nintendo Cup) is one of the four Stadium Cups, appearing in both Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2.
It is presented as being the officially-sponsored Pokémon League tournament, though unlike what would be thought, not all Pokémon are allowed for use. More specifically, Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh and Celebi are all disallowed.
The Cup has a level restriction on it as well, only allowing Pokémon between the levels of 50 and 55 to compete. In addition, the three-Pokémon team chosen by the player at the beginning of a battle may not have a total level sum above 155. This means as well that the six-Pokémon team chosen to compete can't have more than four Pokémon of level 55.
There are four levels that may be challenged; each level up must be unlocked by defeating the eight Trainers on the previous level.

Dragonite is so freaking bulky and tanky to be able to withstand Ice Beams to the face with quad weakness even if you're 4 levels under it.

There were glitches in Generation 2 that allowed you to get Pokémon at a lower level than normally obtainable. The same can be replicated in the gen 1 games as well.

A joke? Pupitar just evolve at lvl 55 and the Pokemon that you can borrow for Poke Cup are all lvl 50. So tell me, how do got this Tyranitar without cheating? CHEATER!!!

How come your tyranitar is under leveled? Don't Pupitar evolve in level 55

This game level caps Pokemon to the max level allowed in that mode. In this case for Poke Cup, The level cap is 50-52. Same thing happens in normal WIFI battles in modern Pokemon Games. Level 50 max, to make things even between opponents.

@@atteranenforcer5263not correct, you can have three Pokémon per battle with total level up to 155. So you can have one level 55 and two level 50s. This rule is specifically put in place to allow Tyranitar and Dragonite. This guy cheated to get a Tyranitar below level 55.

Juan Pablo Leon Gonzalez Nope. It means that the pkmn learned a certain move before the level it actually learns it by level up. I dont know what color (if it even takes a color, lol) could have those letters if the player was gamesharking.

+Juan Pablo Leon Gonzalez btw..look at my pknm stadium 1 pika cup and poke cup (both round 2) i belive abra's and alakazam's elemental punches are also purple letter. but i got them both by breeding in silver and then transferring them to pokemon yellow.

+Yoel Rojas ¿Have you ever heard of breeding, TMs, and HMs? The answer lies there. Surf Pikachu/Raichu is a special gift you can obtain in pkmn stadium 1. I got it a long time ago, but as far as i can remember, you get it by setting all Kanto pokemons in the hall of fame.

Well sounds clever and for even though, I read the TMs HMs online, it said that you get the moves like as for Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt right after defeating Lance at Pokemon Crystal.

ChrisPTY507 I know this is old, but I’ll correct anyway. You get Surf Pikachu by using a pikachu in prime cup. I believe he has to not die and be in every battle. Every Pokémon in hall of fame = Amnesia Psyduck. Both are still very good imo

I used a glitch that allows you to obtain certain Pokémon at a desired level. Gen 1 games also have this glitch, and it was patched in Gen 3 games. Thank you for engaging with the content!
