If you're going for Abra, then Chimchar is the blatantly correct starter choice because it learns Taunt. If you can get Bidoof, Starly, Shinx, and Budew with Dupe's Clause, then you're guaranteed an Abra encounter. And then Taunt just stops it from teleporting, exponentially increasing your odds of catching it

Abra is vastly overrated in Nuzlocke. I learned the hard way. Glass cannons are fun in concept, but if you have a pokemon where one crit ends everything like that whole line then they're not super valuable.

It was January, I started hunting Turtwig in BDSP when those games released but I think I got it before this post but if I didn't, that was most likely what I was hunting & yeah, I got it but I went severely over odds, I was resetting for it in Shining Pearl but I was on a time crunch to get it before Legends Arceus so I bred for a shiny Turtwig in Brilliant Diamond using Masuda Method, I had a German Turtwig on hand. I kid you not, I spent over 80 hours hatching Turtwig, I was 120 hours of play time when I started hatching eggs & over 200 hours when I finally got it.
