The fourth generation's 'thing' is sort of taken for granted now, but back in the day was really new and cool. It was that older Pokemon got new evolutions. Electivire, Magmortar, Magnezone, Probopass, Froslass, Porygon-Z, Weavile, Yanmega and probably a bunch more I'm forgetting off the top of my head. But because those Pokemon have been a part of the game since D/P, it doesn't feel new anymore when you come back to it. They could have expanded on that idea with new evolutions or mega evolutions, but they didn't. So that's why the remakes feel like they don't really have a 'thing' anymore.

@@okdre9276 Nah. the evolutions were around in the original Diamond and Pearl. no game prior to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon introduced new Pokemon mid generation. The good news is though, that these remakes do have a lot of the Platinum improvements such as the Rotom forms, but are lacking some other things which I won't get into for the sake of spoilers.

Yeah the big problem with the battlepass focusing on challenges. When you get into games most people are going to focus on the challenges instead of attempting play the match. I know there are play x amount of games challenges but there should 100% be some sort of xp progression to level up the battlepass (both free and paid version)

Definitely feel the same about the Halo progression. I've not been part of online discussion so I didn't know there was a wider criticism, but after a couple of hours in I definitely thought "Huh, this BP really isn't progressing...I have like one thing after several matches." And like Andy and Bless, I tend not to actively try and complete challenges that are too far removed from the way I like to play. I wanna be able to progress without being forced to play in certain ways.

Andy look close at that Yoroi armor core. It’s not just samurai thrown into halo. That armor still feels like a Spartan to me. Like an alternate universe Spartan where Japan led the UNSC. Pokemon fans don't so much want "remakes" as they want "revisions". I would call FRLG, HGSS, and ORAS rsvisions. Leaving everything new the series has done over the years behind was a hugrevisions. BDSP always felt like an afterthought to me though. It's obvious Legends Arceus is the game they wanted to make, that's why ILCA was making BDSP. They just remade it out of obligation because you just know if Legends Arceus is all we got people would be complaining that we "never really got a gen 4 remake". But how do you make Sinnoh remakes with open-world mechanics, regional variants, and all of the new shit we've come to expect? That would almost be too revisionist for a "remake". And that's what Legends Arceus is. BDSP is just to settle those who would be upset if we didn't get something closer to the original games

A remake is normally a game re-made, but better. However, BDSP is closer to a remaster or revision, as you said it, than a remake. Pretty much only the artstyle has changed and all the bad things Platin improved on are back in BDSP which is very disappointing.

Platinum was the golden child of that whole set. It was faster and more had way more to do. But I wanna say though that Game Freak wasn't involved in making these remakes and that it was another studio with game freak's permission to remake it. So I think it's cause the studio didn't wanna be risky with it. That being said comparing this version to a fan made game...most pokemon fan made games are will to play with risk here. Like the modded Pokémon roms and Pokémon MMO are all playing around with some risk

Campaign coop doesn't need to be tied to seasons. They could still release that whenever they feel ready. Forge could too (though it makes sense to tie with seasons), but we'll know in January.

While Gen 5 did have a "hard" mode, It was only in Black and White 2 AND after beating the league I'm curious how BW will be handled. Game Freak(i know BDSP isnt Game Freak, but that might also be an issue) seems to be putting less and less work into new pokemon games and now it seems like less work going into the remakes. FRLG and HGSS both have a bunch of extra content. ORAS had some cool additions, I loved riding around with Lati@s and all the different portals to encounter legendary pokemon and the Delta episode with Zinnia was cool. People wanted Battle Frontier but that was never my thing, so even though its missing I personally didnt miss it. But now BDSP seems almost just one for one of the originals.

Halo is good. It's good. But in an era of twitchy shooters and highly tactical gameplay, it just doesn't hit the same as it used to in 2007. It's missing that "I'm going to laser your head with my precision aim". This is run and gun and chuck grenades everywhere constantly lol. Just finished and I understand how can be bored with Pokémon! With it being my favourite game in the series I already know that just having this game on Switch is already a win with me so ill be so happy come Friday! Then as for Halo I am honestly blown away by how fun this game is and how smooth it runs for still being a beta!! I have been waiting for a FPS to come along for a while and I was not impressed with COD or Battlefield. I am very much looking forward to the full release in December! Great episode lads! I recommend the Pokemon Unbound romhack for anyone with the Pokemon itch but who doesn't want to play the exact same thing from 15 years ago. These fans have made improvements that really bring a refreshing experience while still being a Pokemon game. I'm only up to the first Gym and I've already had: in game cutscenes, side quests, difficulty options, starters are pseudo legendaries, the first area is ice type Pokemon, and the antagonists already caught Articuno. Really though, it's the sidequests that blow me away most.

Please God let the Halo Campaign be good. Of all he problems I had with Halo 5, the multiplayer was towards the bottom of the list and the fact that they're only really marketing the multiplayer and not really showing anything else is worrying. Especially since the Campaign is the product people will be buying. Multiplayer is great but I'm getting tired of the lack of info when the game is weeks away. I still remember all the big marketing from previous Halo games like the "finish he fight" marketing campaign and "Hunt the Truth" marketing and its a bummer not getting any of that

I think a lot of people are going to be coming up against the fact that Diamond/Pearl were the last in the 'strict formula' design for a reason. They're very formulaic and predictable versions and Platinum added a lot of improvements that sadly aren't going to be a part of this remake. Don't get me wrong, gen 4 had its moments, and Cynthia is my favourite champion of all time, but inspired games they are not. They're the only versions of Pokemon that I legitimately can't remember what happened in the story. (X and Y is a close second, but since it's more recent I still remember bits and pieces) Every trailer I've watched for the remakes, I've had to question whether or not I'd ever seen that route before, or whether I remembered 'x' gym leader. It's pretty forgettable and the only thing that sticks with me is the Darkrai and Shaymin events and how cool that was back in the day. Legends Arceus will be the game to do something fresh with the Sinnoh region. Whether that's for better or worse, we'll have to see.

I am looking forward to get both Pokemon brilliant diamond and Pokemon shining pearl games for Christmas🎄. I also would liked to play as Dawn and choose Piplup as my starter Pokemon so I can do better than the anime Dawn and what Piplup would never do. And that is catching more Pokemon and evolve Piplup into Prinplup and then to Empoleon. However when I was watching KZbin of any ideas what to expect on Pokemon brilliant diamond and Pokemon shining pearl, but when I was looking to find out about Wonder Trade that I've just found out today that at the moment is unavailable😱. I mean it isn't fair because I was looking forward to get both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl games for Christmas and I was hoping to used Wonder Trade for any Pokemon I want since it's the most important part of every Pokemon Games. Now I'm going to have to wait in early January to hear more news at least that what I though it's going to happen😒.

Yup. You've nailed my thoughts on BDSP as a consistent pokemon fan since gen 1. I feel like a lot of the issues may come down to this being one of the first "mainline" games not developed or remade by Game Freak. Whether it was Game Freak that didn't allow much alteration to the original, or ILCA (who took this on) didn't want to disappoint or take too many chances. It all just looks so basic and unexciting.

Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion but I strongly agree with Tim about the art style of the DP (lol) remakes. It looks like an artless rip-off of the LA remake art style but without the charm. It doesn’t look like a diorama, just like a generic mobile game or something. That being said I’m looking forward to Arceus next year. For now SMTV is definitely scratching the itch for me. I also really wish Pokémon would add an optional hard mode for series veterans. I’m too skilled for the campaign but not skilled enough to play online competitively so I’m stuck with too easy or too hard.

I had a revelation these last 2 weeks playing and beating earthbound. Being 3ish years older than red and blue is insane if you play this game. Pokémon did a lot right but man Earthbound is such a solid game that still holds up even with some of the minor headaches (item management, sometimes pain in the ass healing mechanic). It’s honestly inexcusable at this point with Pokémon and the seemingly cash grabs they are leaning towards real easing nowadays. Earthbound ran so Pokémon could walk…damn shame. #PlayEarthbound

Totally agree. Let's Go was awesome, except I really hate how much the devalued battling in that game. You level up so much quicker just by catching than you do from trainer battles. That's the only thing that bothered me about it.

I been saying what bless said about Pokémon games for a while. Pokémon crystal was the first game I ever owned and they will always have a special place in my heart but man it pissed me off with the amount of money they make off the Pokémon games that in 2021 the games are pretty much the same as they were back in the day with a shiny new paint. And I know arceus is coming but they should have made a game like that a decade ago at least. And the worst part is the fan base let’s them get away with doing the absolute least. The amount of money Pokemon as an IP makes is not going to Game Freak, it goes to TPC primarily and maybe around 1% if even that goes back into the development on the games. There's a reason why Japanese industry analysts call Game Freak call them the most crunched studio in the whole industry, cause they're milked day in and day out and not given anywhere near what they're deserved back. That's what's truly sad about it all

Why they chose to do direct remake for D/P instead of integrating Platinum like all of the previous remakes is beyond me. I just tried to play through diamond, and could not get through that game. The pokemon suck, the leveling is really bad, and it's just not interesting. Everything good about that gen that was good is from Platinum.
