So for anybody wondering, here's the deal with Effect Spore. From Gen 6 onwards the Ability works like this: "When a Pokémon with this Ability is hit by a move that makes contact, there is a 9% chance of poison, 10% chance of paralysis, and 11% chance of sleep. Grass-type Pokémon, Pokémon with Overcoat, and Pokémon holding Safety Goggles are immune to Effect Spore."

Definitely a challenge where the beginning is the biggest slog, and then once you get through that there's little challenge til the E4. Fighting megas with unevolved Pokemon is pretty rough, as is the parade of Megas that the E4 had. But you kept it to a stunningly low death count!
