Pokemon Crystal: Final Battle vs Red with only Johto originals

The hardest battle in Gen 2 and possibly the most famous battle in the franchise beaten with only Pokemon who originated in Johto, no evolutions of Kanto Pokemon either.
No items in battle, set mode and all of my team members were at level 65

Having Elemental Punches and Light Screen gives it some utility, it also managed to KO Lance's Gyarados with 2 ThunderPunches during my Champion fight lol I wouldn't say it's anywhere near great but it can work? 😂

Gengar or any ghost Pokémon(idk all the ghosts in Gen 2 outside of Gastly or Haunter off the top of my head) is extremely useful for tossing out for Snorlax, as Snorlax has no regular moves that can hit Gengar/ghosts(also most regular movesets Gengar can learn are ineffective on Snorlax too), & you can essentially run out of pp yourself & start doing the (I forgot what it's called), until Snorlax runs out of pp too, but in that time, you can revive & full health your other stronger Pokémon, that can actually put up a fight against Snorlax to faint it.

A lot of people don't appreciate Gen 2's games and I can understand, looking back. However, in my opinion, Gen 2 is peak Pokemon design. So many of them look absolutely amazing : Crobat, Scizor, Tyranitar, Hercross, Kingdra, not to mention legendaries such as Suicune, Lugia and Ho-oh.

Thats memories…being a young child exploring this mountain and then seeing this guy standing there. You dont think anything about it and talk to him. SUDDENLY this music starts playing and you get to see his pokemons are around 20 higher than yours. With every attack you are sweating that his pokemon are taking enough damage to fall and yours are withstanding his attacks. Just like the earthquake at the beginning kills the pikachu. Such a relief it was instantly k.o. But its getting worse. At the end you are either traumatised or at the end with your nerves since this battle took all of your energy.

Ghost Pokémon until both of you run out of pp, until your pokémon starts to struggle, Snorlax has no regular moves that can damage ghost type, ugh, I hated that rest & snore combo, I feel that mixed with his body slam faints most pokémon under 70-75 in 1-2 hits

It's refreshing to see a team like this. I only wish ones like Ledian had a big buff in their stats so they would be seen on more teams...a big chunk of Johto's Pokémon were done *DIRTY.* It's no wonder many of them went on to receive evolutions in later generations. There's still quite a few left in dire need of an evolution...because huge stat buffs aren't GAME FREAK's style.

Doing something similar currently. Meganium, Houndoom, Lanturn, Xatu, Steelix, Heracross. Was able to get Steelix due to changes made in the Pokemon Crystal Legacy mod that made trade evo items into just normal evo items that you use on the mon.

Mostly due to stat EXP, you'll wrack up quite a bit of it all game and in Gen 1-2 you can actually max out all the stats, same can't be said for the AI hence why

@@getkosiorekt8345gen 1 is better for training tho since the league is upto the 60s. Gen 2 has such a weak league and only your rival and red and trainer house to rebattle for exp which is a drag. Also the hp bar going down slow and overall sluggish feel. It’s probably why I like Gen 3 (gba) and 5 (black and white) a lot because they run so fast and smooth playing them feels more satisfying since it’s not so draggy to train etc. especially firered and leafgreen post game sevii island trainers with the vs seeker.
