Instead of all the back-and-forth, why didn’t you just use a multimeter to check your traces? It would’ve saved you like all that time.

Its not shown in the video but I did mesure all those tracs with my multimeter. I just didnt want to strech the video into unneccesary lenght. :) Please notice, that on the one hand I had to create strong connections that wont melt while soldering the chips legs back on. On the other hand I could only use a tiny bit of solder mask to secure the traces. If I had used too much mask, it would have lifted the chip and the pins would not have soldered on well. Thats why I almost didnt use any solder mask on the second try.

which uv light do you use? Also you didn't say "solid" on the pins so they probably weren't. are the pad strips from NRF or somewhere else?

Oh, I just use a regular 5W UV light. Nothing special but enough for these kind of repairs. Indeed I didnt mention "solid"... its not my taste. ;D If its solid then ok if not, I correct it. Simple philosophy. :) The pad strips are from "BEST" (?) just some chinese simple repair stripes I guess. Let me know if you need to know anything else, please. :)

@@x-fix I just usually use kynar wire, I do this level of repair daily haha. The pads could be interesting for my work. I tried uv before but my light wasn’t bright enough.

To be honest... I think my UV light is for hardening nails in cosmetics. But its bright enough for my work and also gets pretty warm. It did cost only 8€ and I am absolutely fine with it. I dont see any point in bying so called "professional" UV light for electronics. As long as it works, everything is fine. I used wires before and there are always pros and cons about this topic. In this case we had here only a tiny flat space under the chip for the repair traces. A wire plus soldermask on it could lift up the chip and give me some hard time to solder the pins correctly. Thats why I choosed the strips instead. On the other hand wires are longer and you can lay a longer bypass. I wished there would be stripes like this but in a roll. :)

Someone messed up beforehand. It was bad that you had to remove the chip a second time.
@x-fix

Well I prefer to take of the chip a second time and check everything again instead of giving up. I am not sure how the seller removed the chip so I had no clue if the chip would be even still working... But I had a good feeling about this one! :)
