He cheated this was all scripted and pre recorded with the best time of each section recorded and stitched together. This is confirmed and he knows he’s supposed to be removing this video and any like this all he’s doing in the background is pressing a controller that does nothing while he watches the video so he knows how to time the button presses, but the problem is the audio between the game and himself is distinct. Why this was nobody’s first question is very odd, but he was outed and caught. He is not number one and he is not a master. He is a pathetic loser who can’t help but cheat.

Being compared to Exarion is the highest praise any Pokemon speedrunner could ever receive, and I am honored that you would consider me to be anywhere near the same tier as him. I don't think anyone will ever be able to match what Exarion has done for PSR, myself obviously included. His skill level at all aspects of the game (routing, decision making, technical execution, etc.) is so high that it's hard to match him in a single one of these categories, and matching him in all is most likely impossible. When I first started running Red four years ago, I did it solely because I thought it would be fun after watching a SummoningSalt video, and I never had any intention of showing my runs to anyone. I never would have imagined I would be where I am today. I had many Red runners I looked up to when I was starting out: Exarion, Gunnermaniac, Pokeguy, Franchewbacca, and Araya, as a few examples. And once I decided to branch out from my comfort zone of Gens 1 and 2 and start running Emerald, I of course was inspired by the King of Gen 3, Shiru. I specifically remember being in awe of how managed to do victory road bonkless, on the mach bike, in the dark. I thought I would never be able to compete with your skill level. This run was everything I could have possibly hoped for out of running this game, and more. Mastering the mach bike is probably the most rewarding thing I've ever done in a game. I grinded my ass off to get this time, and I couldn't be happier that I somehow managed to unseat someone as dominant in this game as you. Between this run and my 3:08 crystal run, I could lose every record I have and never get another one, and I'd still be happy. Now that the onus of sub 2:30 has been removed, I wonder if it will open the floodgates for people to optimize this game even further. I would love to lose this record, I want to see how low this game can go, and I'd love a reason to grind this game again. Who knows, maybe 2:28 is right around the corner. I'm sorry for the word vomit, I had more to say than I thought I did. Thank you for your kind words. I'm coming for your ass in sapphire, just you wait.

I don't know myself, but a really good guess is that RNG in every game has to have a "seed", that seed could be anything (time, temperature of a computer, etc.) so in this case, it might have been based on the moment that you press the button to throw the pokeball.

When there’s no more power in the cartridge because its internal battery has run dry after a few years, the preseeded numbers repeat from the beginning every time you log into the game. So after saving and reloading, if you know when the good numbers will appear, you can do a frame perfect trick to get them. A metronome helps with that.

Frame matching....It's a very common technique to "track" the frames after pressing a specific button. By counting the clicks, it's possible to manipulate parameters like nature, pokeball capture rates, evading encounters and maybe even encountering shinies. I'm not sure as to when to "start" the click or "how" many clicks corresponds to manipulating which parameter. But to put it in a non geekish way, this is what its all about.

Probably he did RNG. I never try to do speedrun, but i did the process of RNG for capture and for breeding in 3rd generation games.

@@giovanni0811 I watched some runs after this and I understand it now. He uses a flowtimer to do something called "Frame Manipulation". There are certain frames that ensure a pokemon from being captured. This is how he managed to catch the Kyogre in Sapphire with a Great ball as well (in one attempt). Pretty epic stuff

@@Paul180 YES, I never try to manipulate RNG for a speedrun, but I did this to obtain perfect IVs e nature without cheat. When you aren't versus the timer, you can use a script, it's more simple. It's totally legal. I have a save state of Emerald absolutely perfect: I have all 386 pokèmon LEGIT, also Celebi and Jirachi. Infact, I did JAP Colosseum and I manipulate the frame to obtain a timid Celebi with perfect IVs. In Colosseum is also possible to obtain Raikou, Entei and Suicune with perfect IVs (it's impossibile in Fire Red and Leaf Green).

to simplify it, the probabilities in the game are not exactly random, but chosen by a number that generates randomly each frame and the secuence of these numbers is always the same when you restart the game. That's why he quit and loaded before fighting rayquaza and had a sound timer to know exactly the frame he had to enter the battle and throw the pokeball

I might be wrong but if i remember correctly on pokemon esmerald luck ""doesnt exist"", what happends is that game is always doing a random number generator that decides what is going to happend in that milisecond, so if u know the timing and exact moment of the match, u can make it so u always capture rayquaza with 1 pokeball, or u always get a crit, etc.

Whenever you hear the muttered counting ot ticking, he's trying to get the timing right for RNG manipulation. By entering a series of button presses in a frame-perfect sequence, you can effectively guarantee certain "luck-based" aspects of the game to result in predetermined outcomes. He did it with the Mudkip at the start, too-- you wouldn't be able to live certain attacks or hit damage thresholds in certain fights if your starter was truly random. So RNGmanip is a way of standardizing strategy

I am a shiny hunter and I hunt on 8 different emerald carts at once. I noticed one of my emerald carts saves about a whole second sooner than the others. I know all my carts are legit as well. Is there any thought or consideration in finding carts with faster save times to shave off an extra few seconds overall whenever any saving for manips happen?

Yes, it is RNG manipulation. When you hard reset the console, the game always starts at the same RNG seed (which happens to be 0), and the RNG advances once per frame in a set way. It is very easy to write a program to generate the RNG value on every frame after hard reset. Since RNG advances in a set way, as long as we play same way after hard resetting, we get the same outcome. On rayquaza manip, we time when we talk to rayquaza in order to get good stats, and we time entering the bag and throwing the poke ball because there is a 4 frame window where the poke ball catches rayquaza at full health. These windows are known simply by looking at the RNG values at each frame and finding ones that correspond to the outcomes we want. The same principle applies to mudkip manip and chained manip. We hard reset and then do things the same way in order to get set outcomes (amazing mudkip stats, and a tailow and abra catch, respectively) Dead battery doesn't actually affect RNG manips in this game. Dead battery is faster than live battery, though, because with a live battery you get random phone calls from trainers you've fought. Luckily this game is quite old and basically every cart by now has a dead battery.
