I replayed emerald a couple years ago and tried to hunt shiny rayquaza. Did it a pitiful 30-40 times and just gave up, I wanted to continue the nostalgia-fest. Scale filter on your emulator will make it less pixelated, though it can mess with how the game's supposed to look by causing visual glitches or just making rounded certain parts of a sprite that are too small, like the trainer's eyes.
