I mean, it's a pretty cool feat that Boldore is Ash's best Rock Type....by default....for 2 regions. Honestly I'm sad Boldore was one of those instances of Pokemon losing more than they gain through evolution. He seemed like a good rock.

They were planning to evolve boldore but animators said the struggled animating the pokemon so being on Ash’s rotation would have been a nightmare. With it at oaks and goh having one maybe given it wouldnt need to be on screen for long

Well, first OFFICIAL of both. Unofficially, Haunter was the first Pokémon he "owned" to evolve via trade. And Larvitar was the first Rock-Type that he "owned".

A possible storyline could've been where Trip saw Ash had boldore and offered to help evolve it into Gigalith, whilst also helping himself evolving his Gurdurr. As both Pokemon require to be traded in order to evolve but where Trip would've gotten his newly evolved Conkeldurr back and Ash would've had a Gigalith.

I like how similar to palpitoad in an earlier season a rival probably would’ve gotten boldore (Brock) and palpitoad (Misty) this season they expanded his roster by allowing him to catch one. His large group may not be the same as when he has around 6 mostly fully evolved but I’m glad ash got this one.

@@ProfessorAlexSilver Well that’s the main problem with the rotation season. A lot of Pokémon was caught by ash that normally may not have been but they didn’t get as much development as ones he caught in seasons where he had 6. I wish there was a side series that showed his Pokémon at Oaks.

I'm kinda upset that Boldore didn't evolve, because it was teleported around so much. But Misty's Poliwhirl was able to evolve into Politoad because teleporting seemed to be the same process as trading

@@madnessarcade7447 that's the thing, though. It's evolution isn't like Pikachu or Bulbasaur's. It should have evolved the first time Ash traded it for another pokemon to be on his team. If anything, it's like Ash's Totodile or Scraggy, where it didn't fully evolve, and the writers didn't care enough about it to come up with a reason why

Glad I am on time for this class. I loved this explanation and I also think that Ash should have evolved Boldore into a Gigalith. I would love to see more classes about Ash's ace in Unova ie the 'Krookstar' Krookodile or Dawn's Mamoswine since it is a Powerhouse. If you are doing a Paul related video, then I think you should do his Electivire or Ash's Infernape. Thank you for the amazing lecture, Professor.

Boldore's lack of facial features prevented it from being one of Ash's better-known Pokemon. This was Ash's only trade-evolving Pokemon, I think. But at least he got it to evolve once which was more than Brock did with Geodude!

Roggenrola was one of the pokemon i wanted on my team in the video games. It's always at the greatest moments where his pokemon evolve especially during battles. Imo. And this was one of them

I can’t say much about boldire but all I know is I liked his storyline with its character & ash recruiting it on his team in the unova region! Also I just finished the 16th series and I will soon watched Kalos starting in the 17th series also I think when you do ashes Pokémon from unova soon my suggestions are all 3 of oshawatt, pignite & snivy from Ashes team! As well irises axue and Cilens crustle!

To be honest, if Ash were to ever bring back an older Pokemon to Paldea I hope it's Boldore since he really needs that screen time, even though Ash mainly focuses on speed and struggles with slower and bulkier Pokemon, I'm pretty sure Ash can have Boldore learn a speed boosting move like rock polish. Also I hope Boldore will evolve and we'll finally see Ash with a Gigalith like the writer originally planned.

personally, I feel that ash of ash's pokemon should have at the very least, 3 episodes centered around them and their development. a good example of this are the episodes "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village", "Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden", and "Bulbasaur the Ambassador". in each of these episodes, Bulbasaur's characters grows while staying consistent from his last appearance, and thanks to these 3 episodes, Bulbasaur became such a memorable pokemon on ash's team. if Bulbasaur didn't have these episodes of character development, he most likely would've ended up like Pidgeotto or Ash's Boldore. another good example are the three indigo league episodes, "Pokemon-I Choose You", "Electric Shock Showdown", and "Pikachu's Goodbye". each one of these episodes develop the relationship between Ash and Pikachu, and put them through different kinds of obstacles to overcome. sure, Ash and Pikachu ended up getting many more episodes centered around their friendship, but all the anime needed was these three episodes to show that Ash and Pikachu are indeed best friends. Boldore only ended up having 1 episode focused around him, plus the evolution in the gym battle (although Boldore wasn't the main focus of the fight) : ( sadly, this was one of Ash's Pokemon that would've be better if given a lot more character development, as many people don't seem to remember or like him.

Hang on, if the writings were planning on evolving Boldore into Gigalith, would Boldore still suck even as a Gigalith, or would it be a massive threat upon evolution, seriously we were so close to having another powerhouse, but if you know Ash, his strategies focuses on speed and he mainly struggles with slow and bulky Pokemon just take a look at Torterra. But if Boldore returns to travel with Ash to Paldea, maybe it'll learn a speed boosting move like rock polish.

Now I could be wrong, but I heard somewhere a while ago that ash was supposed to get a gigalith, but it was too hard to consistently animate so they just kept it a boldore which I think is extremely unfortunate. I could be wrong though

Maybe there could have been a NFE tournament that showcased not fully evolved Pokemon (since unova had a lot of such gimmicky tournaments) and Ash would enter Boldore to win the Eviolte.

The Razor Fang for Ash's Gliscor, the Everstone for Dawn's Piplup and Ash's Rowlet, Marowak's Thick Club and Farfetch'd Leeks, the Dragon Gem in Gen 5, we have seen lots of held items in the anime despite not often being used in battle.
