Tbh I'm re-watching the series when Cyndaquil appears and Ash is terrible with him, I mean the episode of the nose, seriously I wanted to smash that brat for this. I didn't notice that as a kid but bro, he at times explode Cyndaquil and at the end he leaves him with Professor Oak, well at least hi calm life returned but...DAMN! He has other parts of course that make Ash a good trainer for Cyndaquil but I can't stand when he leaves Cyndaquil getting so injured. Cyndaquil is my favorite of generation 2, I love that baby Pokemon ❤ I think at times Ash is definitely unfair with some Pokémons than it isn't his damn Pikachu, sheesh.

Being from Asia myself, I swear to God I remember airing an actual English-dubbed episode of this because I know they had an episode set in the Safari Zone and I recall seeing that myself.
