Worse than that, trying is not in the Pokemon companies best interest. If they made a truly 10/10 game, a massive leap forward for the series that redefined Pokemon as we know it they could never go back. They'd raise the standard of the series and things people let slide now wouldn't anymore.

Dexit makes even LESS sense with SV because of Home. All they'd have to do is move all of the Pokémon data to SV from SwSh and then add the new Pokémon + other Pokémon that got cut from SwSh. That would be what? 150-250 Pokémon they'd need to add data for? Most data which is already in USUM. I really don't get why Dexit is an excuse to release games quicker... a lot of Pokémon data is literally just a few KB per Pokémon.

The best "open world" function for pokemon was done in "The Origin" anime. When you go to a gym, the leader checks to see how many badges you have, and uses a completely different team depending on how many you have, thus letting all gyms simultaneously be both the easiest, and the hardest, with the only requirement being that you must beat all 8 to get to the E4. However, that requires brains, and masuda and ohmori don't have those, as was shown with Legends being so good, only because they didn't touch it. Personally, I didn't get Let's Go, and the announcement of the dex cut and the frothing deniers and defenders who just CONSOOM rendered all pokemon games basically dead to me. At the same time, we consumers need to be given time to actually enjoy our purchase, and be allowed to breathe a bit in between purchases. The first time I never purchased a Mainline Pokemon game was with sword and shield (dexit itself was not the issue it was the lies) however thinking back on that I probably also starting to experience Pokemon burnout.. my next purchase of Pokemon is Legends Arceus a choice I do not regret, however I do not enjoy Pokemon Bugged Diamond and Shipped early Pearl... if Pokemon would slow down and put more time and effort into each game I think that would definitely be preferable for all of us. @LunatheMoonDragon2 жыл бұрын
So, the difference is that Mario is and always has been, about making video games that sell. The Pokemon Company is, unfortunately, NOT a game company at its core. It's a toy company. There's a reason that Pokemon is the biggest IP in the world. The games only have to do 2 things- come out every (or every other) year, and have new pokemon in them. The Pokemon company makes MOST of its money on the toys, the action figures, the plushies, the anime, and the card game. The games are just a backdrop for merch. You have to stop thinking like a human being that cares about pokemon and the IP, and start thinking like a robot that counts dollar signs and NOTHING else. You may be tempted to say that making a great game will lead to more toy sales, but that is not true. Making 10 mediocre games will always lead to more sales than 1 really good one. Mario needs its games to be good and well beloved so they sell well and keep a good image. Pokemon needs to have new toys to sell every year or they lose massive amounts of money. This is why pokemon will never take a break.

The big city is in the middle, forming a great base of operations for an open-world exploration type game, and many of the notable cities are on the coast, meaning that you could stuff lots of collectibles (pokemon) in them. If I learned anything from the SwSh prerelease stuff they basically hardly change anything and what you see is what you get. There's A LOT of rough patches in the Scarlet and Violet trailer and I just can't see past those shortcomings. I mean, why would they willingly show off a windmill in the background and NOT hide the choppy animation it has? People keep praising how good the Pokemon look, but the instant you look away from all of the fancy stuff and the environment around them... Yikes, it looks like one of the beta builds from Breath of the Wild. Btw, and I've been meaning to ask you this but never got the chance to, have you seen SomeOrdinaryGamers' and AcousticHarmonia's takes on Legends Arceus? I just want my character to be able to look like me. Additionally, they could have dedicated staff members who deal with moveset changes for non-native Pokémon. Why would that be too much hassle for such a big company? As for animations, they've been using the same animations since XY. The ONLY time they change animations is for regional forms or occasionally the idle animations. LA did improve on other animations, but I doubt they'll carry over TBH.

Most representative building: The Alcazar. -Valencia: the city of art and science. A seaside city with skycrapers, hotels and the museum of arts and science; a futuristic and very beautiful museum. -Barcelona: is the city that we can see in the trailer. -Madrid: the capital. I feel like a big problem with Pokemon actually trying and making a game with proper effort put into it is that it raises people's expectations for the next game, it'd essentially give people a taste of the potential Pokemon actually has and after that they won't be able to settle for mediocre anymore. Or at least it's a problem from a business point of view, but I much prefer looking at games as an art form more than a business thing. But of course I don't expect the Pokemon company to see it as an art form, they've already proven that they don't really see it as such time and time again. From my knowledge Pokemon has no reason to actually progress the series from a business point of view, so I don't expect them to change. Or at least, I didn't expect them to change until Pokemon Legends. Pokemon Legends kind of changes my point of view and confused me in a way. Sure, I was happy they were finally progressing the series, but I couldn't see any reason why they'd want to from a business perspective. Pokemon Sword and Shield sold like crazy despite the hate, why did they choose to change the formula up now? I mean, this was just a spin off game, so perhaps it was just for them to test the waters with an idea. I mean, Pokemon Legends was still a very flawed game, much more flawed than I think a lot of people were willing to admit, but I can't deny that it's definitely a step in the right direction, and it certainly has a lot of really great improvements and unique stuff. This game really did feel like Pokemon testing the waters for new stuff, and it left me optimistic for future games. Now with gen 9, I honestly don't know what to think about this game. It's open world? Like, ACTUALLY open world?? I'm unsure how they'd go about having an actual open world Pokemon game. I'm still scared that it's not actually going to be all that open world and they'll still be quite hand holdy, I mean Pokemon is infamous for being hand holdy. In my personal opinion I think there's two possibilities for gen 9: Either it could be an awfully mediocre game that adds little to nothing for the series like gen 8 was, or it could be a rather flawed game but take the series in a great and interesting new direction, sort of like an expanded version of Pokemon Legends. In my opinion the series should've gone in a new direction a long time ago, but better late than never. Sorry for the long comment, this was originally supposed to be a short comment but I got caught up in my thoughts and now it's a whole freaking essay.

I came back to this vid cause I've been having a very different playthrough of Scarlet. So when I first played the game, I followed the typical pokemon game playthrough, and got over leveled very fast by doing so. And I think that's the problem: Scarlet is actually an open world game, especially with the dlc that you can access right away. And I did that on my second playthrough: I went to Kitakami when my highest lvl was 11, and the rest was lvl 8, and got completely destroyed. You can actually play the game freely like an open world game, but people have been conditioned to play it linear cause that's what Pokemon games were for 25 years. But Scarlet & Violet being the first actual open world game, it actually plays like one, and you can play it like that. And the difficulty will be very difficult if you want it to be: Carmine almost destroyed my team, and Kirian actually defeated me when I first arrived at Kitakami with my route 1 pokemon. In addition: the pokemon's lvl scale to your lvl. So Carmine & Kieran still managed to destroy me despite their own pokemon being around lvl 12.

GameFreak has failed to prove they're even capable of producing a linear 3D Pokemon game with console level quality and now they want to not one not give more development time, but also make the whole game open world which would require significant work on their engine and world building that they have extremely limited experience with? Yeah, it's kinda funny. They already have work left to do with taking one step into the concept and now they want to make a game that goes in full force.
@InDeathWeLove2 жыл бұрын
@@lpfan4491 I think their main problem is now that they're on the same console people are going to compare it to another series that went open world in Zelda Breath of the Wild and unless their is a steep increase in quality which isn't going to happen with the still severely shortened development time people are going to come away feeling like they didn't do a good job. Although BotW has a cartoonish non-realistic style and isn't super detailed it does look like a finished cohesive style. That can't be said about Sword and Shield nor Legends Arceus. The latter was a little better in that it was actually trying some new interesting mechanics that I wouldn't mind seeing them expand on. However it still came across unfinished/unpolished. GameFreak really needs to do two things, one go back to spending like 3 years between main line entries and two hire some people experienced in 3D because looking at the models, animations, texturing etc they just don't have people that are exceptional at those and Pokemon is a series big and profitable enough to deserve exceptional. The problem though is why would they if people will keep shelling out for unpolished products in the numbers they are?
@lpfan44912 жыл бұрын
@@InDeathWeLove Actually, that would be even more reason to not go for a proper open world yet. Legends Arceus has its own niche as an open area-game that could be expanded to bigger success. @@lpfan4491 Unless there is a extreme improvement in the quality of the world and everything in it it is really going to look bad when comparing it to 3D open worlds already on Switch such as BotW or Link's Awakening or Monster Hunter or Xenoblade. It literally proves it can be done when a company with enough passion and willingness to spend time and money to invest in it does so. It's hard to say for sure what the going ons inside GameFreak are like. However it feels like a company that doesn't really care all that much about their product anymore and might even be tired of making the same series for so long however they trudge on because it keeps making money and so instead of making the best product they can they are more focused on making the most while doing the least they can get away with.

Legends was so fucking good it felt like a game made for older fans first I'm really hoping SV will be a little more accessible but still amazing open world and being able to go where ever you want. I'm hopeful too since legends turned out so well

I'm not optimistic for it. The open world concept is good on paper but between dividing there resources on it and Legends, and the game coming out on aging Switch hardware which only the best devs can optimize well, I just don't see it being good. It's gonna be lacking in one way or another whether that be amount of content or visual quality

I said gen 9 was too much too soon and people bashed me online. We just got 2 RPGs calm down. We don't need another one so soon. I thought yearly releases were bad but this takes the cake. I can't be hyped for gen 9. I'm already sick of Pokémon for the time being and want to play soemthing else. Another genre even. 2 RPG per year, any series combined, is more than enough. Playing more than that ends up making them feel like a chore to me.

Pokemon just need to take a good 2 or 3 years off honestly

Pokémon games haven't been good in a while, there's no effort, passion or dedication put into them. From Software and Elden Ring are a good example of how amazing games can be when the developers love making them

I really want it to be good, but I’m really concerned it’s gonna be like arceus: really solid concept but inconsistent and rushed execution. I hate how they keep releasing new games all the time now. I can wait, just make it finished and good please

My Pokémon fatigue was lightened by pla. Even if everyone doesn’t like it. It was a breath of fresh air with the nice animation beautiful landscape sure it had pop in. But I really enjoyed it unlike swsh
