While it does have more power normal isn't effective on any type while crunch is super effective on ghost and psychics and a chance to flinch

A small correction if I may, you stated Onix can NOT learn dig by TM, and since you're using Kanto at first you meant that as a Gen 1 thing due to its glitches, but even if you're using gen 3 remakes you're still incorrect. bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Onix_(Pok%C3%A9mon)/Generation_I_learnset#By_TM.2FHM Onix can learn the move Dig even in every gen, so no need to over level for Surge, just teach Dig when you get it.
