Red: there was this one time I was hanging out on Mt. Silver and some rando walked up behind me. So I sent out a Pikachu I was training and he sent out some weird dog. It double teamed and he started stuffing it full of drugs and I couldn't get a hit on the darned thing! Then his hopped up 'mon swept my whole team. Wildest thing I've seen.

He manipulated the rng (random number generation) or luck using movement early in the run, and fuckery with the ds clock. Because he did this, the encounters he got are predetermined. It is legal in runs because no external software is used.

In Pokemon games, even a extra step on a tile, even looking to the right or left before clicking on someone (or in a legendary), might change the way the fight happens, even the chances of getting that legendary or not, for instance; If you play on DeSmuME and use the save states to reset, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
