We can’t control this market. Individuals are looking for ways to make a living through investing. And collectors understand the cyclical nature. Collectors will slow down purchases and pivot to new unexplored areas. Investors will react to that of course. I prefer this market to recessions..

Having a full time business is one thing but trying to make a living of flipping is wild. Investing is long term so it's not investing if you're doing it for your daily livelihood.

@@MrToco23 some people aren't doing this for a living, but to make a little extra on the side to maybe gain a little bit more. If we don't like 'scalper' prices, then don't pay them. Pretty simple.

@@DiddyintheCity yes the market will eventually reject the flipping. now there has been discussion of some cancelling commitments to resell higher. that’s bad business and they should be held accountable.

It’s hilariously easy to see who’s new to investing in general and investing in pokemon cards specifically. Although I’m incredibly annoyed with surging sparks and prismatic evolutions pricing me out of MSRP, I know there most likely will be a market downturn on those products. And if not, who cares, I’m not going to FOMO into anything and buy super cheap cards on the market because I generally like them and think some are grossly overlooked. I’m slowly seeing massive gains swelling up in my collection just by playing it safe and not giving into the hype.

My LCS has increased prices for SSP b/c they had to pay more for restock of SSP and even Paldean Fates has increased Also, big fan of CZ and bought quite a bit of product (for me). Seeing 20% increase from my purchase price already

lets be honest tho, if the pokemon industry made enough product per set for sets that have a extremely large hype around it such as Surging and Prasmatic Evolutions (even tho it hasn't come out) people would have more fun in the first 6-8 months opening the set as it would maintain a good reasonable price point, i really want to open more Surging product but the stores around me are selling a booster pack for $11. I've had a chat with a few TCG stores and GoodGame branches and Pracmatic Evolution ETB's are going to be sold for $250 per box (from $99) after one month, because of the set having a major supply cut, for release date. It's just super interesting from a investing stand point and kinda shit from a opening stand point. Im in both shoes, as i have my own Pokemon investments

I'm normally into your content. Super disappointed in this video. Whether we are investing short-term or long term it's still investing and trying to shame people because it's not what you do is a bad look. It sucks that it's now harder to get product, but this is a supply and demand issue. What if the issue right now is more there fact that Pokemon is maybe printing and shipping less boxes at initial launch? Maybe people wouldn't be "scalping" without all this information from Pokemon investors? Anyways, I much prefer more positive focused content vs. shaming and for the record I'm investor with a long term horizon.

I understand your position. Look people are free to do what they want and investors play an important role in liquidity. Otherwise Pokémon and stores control everything. Collectors will pivot to sets that are cheaper and exit the hyped sets….

@ I think the sealed product is an absolute solid investment and comes with the risk of any money making opportunity. Sure a financial advisor isn’t going to focus on collectibles typically because they don’t understand it. And it’s nice that it’s unregulated although the profits will be taxed! The point of these videos is to attempt to help us self regulate.

I get it, but Investing long and investing short, is still investing e.g. I bought Surging Spark Booster Boxes on pre-order for $180 and then I sold them immediately when I received them, for $345. I'm a collector and investor, but I need capital to continue to buy and sell. Pokemon Boosters aren't liquid, and take time to sell. I'm a very small player, tiny (in 2 font new times roman), but I enjoy opening packs and collecting, but also need to buy and sell. Investing long term is great, but holding long term for "Nostalgia" is another term for holding for larger profit. The way I see it (but I'm much older than you), unless you've got someone else in your household is as passionate as you with your Investment / collection, when we pass away (morbid I know) someone is either going to put your collection on ebay, sell it to a pawn shop or give it away. I'd rather open my own packs, buy and sell for a few bucks... and that's why I'm a shorter term 'investor". Just my opinion. Thank you for your ongoing vids.

Its beautiful to have no lgs, and when im at big box the shelves are barren, online only sales are not my thing, seeing as im into cardboard rectangles because they are tangible art. Yall do understand what "TANGIBLE" is right? "Online only" is for plebby minions!
