I dont think depth matters anymore. Number if cards over 100$ is probley what matters, and a bonus if one of them is over 300. That seems to be the formula that all the best boxes have in common. People wanna hit umbreon, giratina, gengar, and they want to have a backup second or third card worth 100 incase that fails. Thats what i consider when i want to rip somthing, and i dont think im alone anymore.

I agree with a lot of what you said, all sets go up eventually. You mention in your videos how much Fusion Strike you have, which is for a lot of people well beyond what they could purchase. So even though everything goes up, you want to buy the sets that will be the most liquid when and if you want to sell. If you have $600 should you buy 5x S&V base set booster boxes or 3x Twilight Masquerade. For me, I would rather have less booster boxes of a more popular sets. It seems a lot of people have unlimited funds to spend.

I don't think the set will grow anywhere near as quickly going forward as it has up until this point - there is simply a limit to how much people are able to, not to mention willing to, spend on a single booster box. Me personally, I bought a box/case of 151 tins for $210. I appreciate you reminding me that there’s no telling what people will want down the road, but I don’t see those 151 tins ever going for $100 CAD each anytime, ever. I don't find the prices to be related to the "set" of cards in the long term. I find that Booster boxes (36 packs) tend to be roughly equivalent to 80% of the biggest hit in the set long term. That is why Lost Origin (Giratina V AA), Fusion Strike (Gengar Vmax AA), Surging Sparks (Pikachu EX SIR) and Crown Zenith (Giratina HR) are on the rise. It is also why Silver Tempest (Lugia V AA) will eventually boom. And why Obsidian Flames, Stellar Crown, and SV Base aren't really going crazy. SCR and SV Base have a bunch of nice cards. The problem is that, at the moment, there is no proper high-end chase card in either set. Edit: I see you mention it a little bit later in the video. As a sidenote, ETBs work for bad sets if the ETB box looks nice sealed. In a lot of the "bad" XY sets, the ETBs are worth as much as the Booster Box. Hint hint: Obsidian Flames ETBs.
@PokeProfit17 күн бұрын
Can’t really compare XY ETBs to current gen. Print runs on those were insanely low and are much rarer whereas newer ETBs can succeed with a banger promo, even if the set is lacklustre, like OF. But I do agree that, if a weaker set has a solid promo in the ETB, along with nice artwork, it’s probably one of the better ways to have exposure to the set.
@Fox_Mccloud1117 күн бұрын
The OF ETB is expensive not because of the box art, but because of the promo inside
@EeveelutionaryTree19617 күн бұрын
@@Fox_Mccloud11 Currently the promo is the vast majority of reasoning behind price changes for that ETB, yes. And likely going to be a big part of the reason forever. However, there are people collecting sealed product, and ETBs are often highlights in those collections. The OBF ETB is likely going to be one of those boxes sealed collectors are going to want as well though.

I'd argue that SV is better than SWSH overall. Look at the first 4 sets of SWSH and tell me it's better than the first 4 sets of SV. 151 is an SV set. Now prismatic. I think people had rose colored glasses looking back on the SWSH era when every youtuber was sh*tting on SV era, completely ignoring the beauty of the IRs. The market overall is being held up by people hoarding product. How does this all play out in 3 years when there are hundreds of thousands of boxes of surging sparks getting back on the market? It'll be like the set gets a huge reprint. It's weird that pokemon card investors are all instantly experts on the market based only on the last few years. Just listening to KZbin channels let's me know that no one has any idea what they are talking about. Anyone that tells you the market can't go down is delusional. If you're looking to buy to open, don't overspend now on newer sets. There will be chances later, just like there always has been.
@PokeProfit16 күн бұрын
I think a lot of your assumptions about product being hoarded are incorrect. There is always people selling. $200, $300, $400. You think none of the boxes are getting ripped? I’m not an expert, but there are lots of people who have been here for over a decade that would absolutely disagree with you. I also think the start of SV has been better than the start of SWSH. That’s not really a contentious take. We will see how the rest of the generation plays out. It’s looking promising!

Sword and shield : Currently evolving skies is no.1 and fusion strikes no.2, but I think lost origin is gonna be the same with fusion just a little bit later. And after lost origin, crown zenith is the most safe set to invest imo. Has both depth and chase plus it's not that expensive right now. My speculation is lost origin is gonna do the same with fusion in the next month and growth will slow down in 3-6 months and that's when crown zenith will rise like fusion after 3-6 months. Scarlet and violet: I checked the prismatic evolution cards and it makes no sense to be so good. Some of their non top cards like the roaring moon already looks better than the damn chase in the other set. After its release those sets will probably stay the same/decrese in value and surging sparks too becasue everyone will just go for prismatic evolutions. Its just too good of a set, the SwSh equivalent of evolving skies. Edit: No one asked nor replied yet but the reason I think surging sparks wont be as good as now is because I speculate so many people buy is mainly for the hype. So far in Scarlet violet there are no good sets with 151 as an exception but let's be honest it's only good because of Kanto pkm. Just look at the charizard, imo that charizards design isnt "simple" or "plain", its straight up bad. Surging sparks have ok cards like the pikachu and latias but who cares about exeggator and hydreigon. When I mean 151 and surging have bad cards I mean they people are mainly buying because of what the pokemon is, not if the cards actually look good. That's what I mean by the hype. But look at prismatic evolution, I dont really like iron hands nor palfin but their art just looks super super super amazing. Prismatic evolutions IS the evolving skies of Scarlet Violet. I'm a new investor(started learning how the irl cards work 2 weeks ago) So I only know about SV and SwSh. My knowledge is limited especially cuz I dont compare with history charts but I speculate there will be a small drop of prismatic evolutions after release like surging sparks.
