It's crazy how many parallels we're experiencing. It's like we're back in 2020 and 2021. Specialty sets get printed more than any mainline set, so I would be careful trying to jump in at these prices. If you can't get it at MSRP, just pass on it. There will always be a new set - like Team Rocket - and that inevitably draws demand away from other products and prices can come back a reasonable level. Good luck to anyone out there hunting product!

Im a new collector. 151 brought me back into pokemon after 25 years. I’m skipping SS and saving all my money for PrEv. How many other people new folks with disposable income are entering the hobby? I don’t know anything about trainer pokemon and team rocket pokemon but I’m excited. I feel like pokemon will have to make those sets amazing to keep older folk like me in the hobby. I think SS will do fine long term but I just don’t think it will hold a candle to PrEv. One special thing about eevee is I think women also like the cards. They might not be in to that garentina v but they can easily find an eeveeloution they like. I do think pokemon is going to have a crazy 2025. I just got back in to collecting, I’m ready to spend some money. I have to think there are so many others like me. Be ready everyone!!

I was able to get only 2x Prismatic PC ETB’s and I’m thrilled about it. Saving my money for the rest of the back half sets and was also able to find deals on older boxes within the last few months at local card stores before they become more scarce and the hobby goes straight bananas.

If people invested in cases of water this way they would just call it scalping. It's sad but in the current market, if you collect or play for fun, you are better off 99% of the time just buying the card you want outright. It's only ever a handful of cards in each set that go above a hundred and a few at 50, then a dramatic drop to $15, $12, $10, $8... Otherwise it's just people who already have money over investing in popular sets. The Pokemon Company could crush this market by supplying more, but for some reason they won't. I actually thought about writing the Pokemon company and seeing if I could get a response. They need to print more product. The relationship between them and their customer base is muddled by an after market they don't profit from.

@@DuoXCity the problem isn't investing, people have always invested in pokemon, its why you still see old boxes of base set about. the issue is Scalping, theres people with no real knowledge of pokemon, or TCG in general, just buying sets, adding 25% on to the price and selling INSTANTLY. i think if you're planning to hold onto something for longer than 3 years, it'd be fine, but thats simply not the case. if they print more, they will KILL the TCG. it really is that simple. people like the value of their cards, theres a reason that scarlet and violet base set is DEAD, its overprinted and filled with cards that most people don't really want. theres a reason why Stellar crown isn't impacted in the same way as Surging Sparks or Prismatic, its bad cards and printed at a higher rate than SS. if people would STOP fomoing and just simply not buy from people over pricing and scalping the sets, these issues would go away within 2 sets, but nope, here we are again with people just basically paying way over the odds, encouraging more scalpers to do it.

People going into Costco, filling their carts with entire supplies. Ordering 12 ETB from each outlet that will let them. Surging Sparks was behaving just normal until one day all the youtubers said "buy" and everyone did, and now they're sitting on product you guys made worth more by taking product off the market. Let's be real none of this is happening organically. And a surge of, well, let's call it what it is... a surge of scalpers all entering the market right now is gonna force them to print even more.

The fomo is real, you can literally buy booster boxes from the Pokémon center right now. The people buying them over msrp are most likely primarily flippers and people who fall into fomo thinking there’s no product available. I don’t think people truly comprehend the massive amount of product printed. If you took just half of the cards printed in a month at one facility you could make more than 160 million cases of booster boxes. That’s enough for half the the US to have their own case. That much product doesn’t all get distributed day one, there will absolutely be more product, you have to use your head and not let fear burn your money away. Also, as far as reprint news, the set hasn’t even been out for a week, or course they’re not going to announce a reprint yet, they will get more distributed. Ultimately my point is just a psa to not fomo on brand new product and singles like the pikachu, there are years of data to show that it’s not sustainable.

Something I feel like isn’t being discussed enough in all this is the fact that surging sparks and prismatic evo, at least partially, are reaching such crazy price points bc they’re legitimately incredible sets. It’s not like they’re going insane strictly bc of inorganic hype, they’re amazing sets. Pokemon can’t sustain this level of set quality (at least in my opinion), so this is more of anomaly than a trend. But that doesn’t indicate a bubble or anything either. They’re great sets demanding a price point that they obviously deserve. I don’t think unhealthy.

As I stated on other sites like reddit. No PIkachu or any other combination of pokemon in a set has beaten an evolution set. The difference in hype and demand is huge and the gap is hard to close.

HI Alex. I am not even going to bother with Prismatic Evolutions. I found that I only really want to invest in BB cases anyway (Luckily I pro ordered 2 cases of Surging sparks at $108 a box). I do have a case of CZ etb's and two cases of 151 etb's. Here is an update on my investments after taking inventory a few days ago. In the last year i've spent $13,388 and it is worth $20,880 now. I’ve already ordered everything I need from surging sparks, prism evo and I’m finding 151 still for msrp in my local store. I don’t go super crazy in my collection, but enough for like 50 packs of each set. I can’t afford to lose 60-70% opening packs nor will I tie up thousands of dollars waiting 5-10 years to resell. When basketball was big when Jordan was in his prime or when Shaq was killing it, there cards aren’t doing so good now. I hope it doesn’t happen to Pokémon, but who knows.

thank god i got a booster box of surging sparks at $120 and also 5 of the pokemon center etbs. also the Japanese 151 reprint dropped and everyone is silent because its not as large as we expected. prices in japan are around $70 per box at the lowest but mostly around $75 to $85. Pokemon has a printing press that can come online in Ohio when ever they want and that factory alone could reprint every set in 2.5 months significantly... Doesn't mean they will turn it on

@portalmasterry6765 I did take my LCS owners word but he said there is no limit in reprint capacity. They could use the facility to reprint any set much more than demand if desired. I have not done the required dd but let's look into this and get some info?

What’s even more unprecedented is there’s never been an ETB for a specialty set with the Pokemon Center Stamp (whether people like it or not) that’s this much in demand for several reasons; leads me to believe the price in secondary markets are going to be in unknown territory.
