a few pointers: (1) When your pikachu has that '!' on his head, you should talk to him by pressing 'a'. It either tells you that he's happy or he found some hidden items. (2) Attack moves can be classified into two types, physical (e.g. quick attack) and special (e.g. thunder shock). Imagine the former being any type of 'physical attacks', like slamming their bodies, clawing, etc, and special being something along the line of elemental (thunder, water, poison, leaves, etc). Physical attack moves scale with the "attack" stat (you can see when you level up), and special attack moves scale with special attack power. You can see the move type on the move info page.

(3) Color of the catch ring: Green = easy; yellow = harder; orange/red = very difficult to catch (4) Berry effect doesn't stack. Don't waste your berries by feeding a wild pokemon multiple of them. (5) The wild pokemons with the blue aura = tiny; with the red aura = huge. Huge pokemons give you bonus XP if you catch them (6) The smaller the catch ring is when the pokeball hits the pokemon (i.e. the capturing moment), the higher XP you will get, and the better chance you will be able to catch it without breaking free

I was 14 when Pokemon Yellow first came out, i got it for xmas with the lime green Gameboy color. I still have the game. I remember playing it until 2am and the fear of hearing my mum on the landing about to open my bedroom door and having 2 seconds to hide it under my pillow and pretend to be asleep 😂 I'm 32 now and my boyfriend is buying me this game for Christmas, i can't wait.

I don't think he's ever played gen 1-3 of pokemon before. Then again, I would be surprised if any non-hardcore pokemon fan nowadays knew some of the original 151 pokemon in both name and proper pronunciation. But I digress. This is a complete blast to the past for me. I still remember being 6 back in 1997 and watching the first episode. Ah, those were the innocent days.

Yeah the fact that he thinks quick attack and thunder shock do the same damage simply because they are both 40 dmg without taking into account the same type multiplier for electric (1.5x) and also the fact that pikachu's special attack is higher than physical attack making thunder shock many times superior than quick attack. Unless you need the priority on the quick attack or the opponent resists it, thunder shock should be the default attack

I know I'm late but, petting and playing with Pokémon was the best part of the Pokémon Hey You Pikachu on the N64 and this guy just passes it up. This game is amazing. I can't wait until I get my Switch and get this game. Nintendo and Game Freak couldn't have done a better job.
