Since Cyndaquil is classed as "Fire Mouse" Pokémon despite clearly not being based on a mouse, I guess we can't trust any information about this line that we can't see with our own eyes...)

Tbh i think all of them have had a somewhat anthro starter. Gen 1 had Blastoise, and maybe Charizard. Gen 2 had Feraligatr and Typhlosion Gen 3 had all three. Gen 4 had Infernape and Empoleon. Gen 5 had Emboar and arguably Samurott can be. Gen 6 had all three. Gen 7 had Incineroar and Decidueye, and maybe half Primarina. Gen 8 had all 3. Gen 9 has Meowscarada and the fabulous duck i forgot the name of.

You see the difference is that Blaziken is actually well designed (even though it was designed to be ugly or something) it still looks like a Pokemon, I don't like starters like Cinderace or Meowscarada because they lack that Pokemon charm to them. I would agree if they had made it a LITTLE more organic. The lack of tongue and the difference in how it looks when it closes it’s eyes, the legs so clearly separate from the body, and the weird plastic seat thing sticking out of its back…… It just doesn’t feel right that it’s a Pokémon at all in my opinion. Much less that it acts so organically. Ultra beasts were one thing because they literally came from a different UNIVERSE, but the future paradoxes feel….off to me.

@@BearWith_You like I said, this is only my opinion. When I think Pokémon, I think of an at least semi-living creature. Miraidon simply doesn’t fit my personal image of what a Pokémon is. As I said, I think the difference is in the eyes. Until now we’ve never had anything that literally just turns off like Miraidon does at the start of the game, or something where its legs just transform from a jet pack type thing into actual legs. Don’t misunderstand, I don’t hate Miraidon overall. I think as a general monster it’s really cool. I just personally feel it doesn’t hit the spot where something is a Pokémon. Before you mention rotom, I feel even it treads a thin line. It only really gets a pass in my mind because it’s a ghost, not something with a physical body. Again though, I don’t dislike it. It just feels like it belongs in a game like Horizon Zero Dawn rather than Pokémon, to me.

(2:55) This is why for my "Nuzlocke", I allowed myself to back out of trainer battles within the first couple turns, but after turn 3 I was committed to whatever outcome happened. That way I had a chance to see if they were too overleveled for me to handle. Granted it wasn't really a nuzlocke since it didn't have the one pokemon per route rule, instead I was only allowed to use premier balls so I was financially limited rather than limited by location. Also no items in battle other than held items, set mode, that sorta deal. And deaths only counted against trainers, not wild pokemon.

@@sealover7134 I didn't do a nuzlocke, but I did do a challenge run of sorts. Set mode, no items of any kind including held items, must be atleast 5 levels below the opponent's lowest lvl pokemon if the opponent is lvl 25 or higher, can only use TMs twice per pokemon, maybe some other stuff I did that I don't remember. Oh yeah! Only using as many pokemon as my opponents. And uh, I was like lvl 55 when I fought Nemona. Got swept lol

That meme about the order of stuff in Paldea.. holy that is so true.. I legit went after Iono first, was like "oh cool she is a bit above catch cap, whatever.. they knew she is bit far so of course we'd be stronger than the low catch cap.." and then I went after Grusha second since.. Ice gym, for once wanted it to be a bit of a toughie early on instead of steamroll with full team... yeah.. seeing his level 40s made me realize the "open world" was *just* the wild mons... I still did Katy and Brassius last tho, just because my sheer determination wanted to spite the "intended" order.. but I somehow accidentally did all the Star Bases in right order.. Titans I literally flipped only two... and didn't realize they weren't just "order of upgrades" but "each titan has specific upgrade" The order seems to be "hey swing like a pendulum back and forth and once roadblock just go back other way".. like learning that the intended thing for the gyms was "yeah go up mountain for ghost.. and then travel *all the way back to the south for psychic* and then *go back up mountain again* was incredibly dumb... Oh and fun fact.. acting Nurse Joy where to go next? She just points you to whatever the closest objective is, not the next properly leveled challenge, like if she *did* know the order, would be much better imo since then kids (or dumb adults/teens) could hit a roadblock and actually ask for directions instead of feeling like they were doing something wrong and just being overleveled for 80% of their journey since the Psychic gym is apparently number 7 but is easily on a path you could get to right after your first (or second) gym if doing intended.. or just finding it because.. exploring the open world... Arven.. yeah him having a secret after the first titan.. I legit was like "oh he has the other box legend" since he was calling mine a "brute" so I assumed he was more accustomed to the other one and was doing the herbs to increases it's strength like mine was doing... and then he had a sick dog.. which at first I was like "really dude? These things are granting a legendary new powers and your dog can't stand?" until realized "oh both of our creatures got hurt in Area Zero and mine's standing only because it is a legendary..." Grusha and Rika... so glad they exist... still kinda wish with how the protags are kinda neutral (ie all clothes anyone can use) we just got pronoun choices instead of "oh you picked the 'wrong' one.. please reboot your entire game because you didn't realize it despite you having every hair color, style, and makeup choice available for anyone anyways" Personally I didn't have the issue but know some more butch females who picked the "boy" option by mistake, got called "son" and just were like "now gotta redo the past like 10 minutes remaking character with the default femme looking character just to give her short hair anyways"

My problem is not with the starters being bipedal, that is not what makes them humanoid for me. It's the fact that the main inspiration is human activities like Singing (Skeledirge), Dancing (Quavaquadal), and magic tricks, (Meowskarada). The only generation that did it (human inspiration) right in my opinion was Unova.

Thank you. "Humanoid" doesn't include every Pokémon that walks on two legs. It's the WAY they behave and the design elements that go into them. Most recent starters don't really feel like animals that could believably exist in the wild

Singing was first introduced in the Animal Kingdom. Humans weren’t the first to sing rhythmic melodies. It was Birds and Raptors. Birds were also the first to dance in a rhythmic style, with their legs and feathers as the main attraction. Quaquaval is based on a mythical Duck creature with humanoid features though, so yeah, it’s supposed to be humanoid. But, it’s specific Dancing style is reminiscent of Brazilian Carnival Dancing, or Flamenco Step Dance. Both are kind of Bird like in itself, with Brazilian Carnival Dancers wearing Bird feathers to mimic the style of Peacocks, and Flamenco Dancers wearing long dresses to mimic the elegance of dancing birds swaying their wings around to look presentable. So singing and dancing is more animal like than you’d think.

You do know that fuecoco Stans have no right to be saying that we have made the wrong choice. Water beats fire, and it is one of the best types in the game. Rock/Grass is a VERY underrated typing! Rock offers Grass a LOT of help. Rock helps with Grass' weaknesses to Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice types. Which basically leaves just Poison and Steel types it can't readily deal with with. Dragons too I guess. This is why I love how the first Terrastalizing Jumpluff I met was Rock typed. It can effectively deal with all of its weaknesses one its own! It's bonkers. XP

You know what hurts about the fire starter thing? So I make mons in my spare time (mostly stats and ideas, only a couple drawings so far). A big fangame idea thing I can work on.... That is very similar to my idea. Based on a Will-o-wisp, that is a "spark of life". Starting off a small flickering light, growing into a powerful flame by the end. A fire/electric with levitate for it's HA... I now lack faith in my creation, thanks Patt! :D
