I did too but abused the heck out of hordes and chain fishing to get my shinies quick lol. I also caught a shiny Sableye while looking for shiny Aron which was a 5% encounter. I still have that Sableye to this day

If you saved after getting the torchic, yes, but if you reset after getting torchic and you didn't save you'd be able to hunt torchic, just reset your game.
