I've been shiny hunting for my shiny treecko for 3 days now. no luck >.

Thanks for posting this! It gives me hope on my own Treekco soft reset! (also on an Alpha Sapphire) Which I've been at on/off since the game's release. I've had better luck on my Omega Ruby, soft reseting a shiny Ho-Oh and shiny Raikou. (But of course I poke banked my collection over so I'd get the shiny charm there) interested to know, did you check the activity log on your 3DS to count the SRs? I'm up to 1311. But I'm working as I type this.

I actually stopped counting since day 2, but I know it might've been between 1,000 to 3,000 at least, or at least felt that way. XD You know, I actually never tired that before sadly. However, I counted the time, which calculated to 36 hours and 4 minutes. Anyway, I'm glad I can give you hope, and I wish you the best of luck on this endeavor. This should be proof enough that it's still obtainable, even after a long period of time. ^^

One tip for shiny hunters using this method use rubber bands to hold the L and R buttons so you only have to press start to reset

I'm trying to get a Shiny Treecko and I think that passed four days since I began the hunt. Even when I got a Shiny Totodile in SS was faster than this. Wish me luck :(

a lot of people get seriously lucky in soft resetting, unfortunately I am not one of them, I have been trying to get a shiny starter Treecko since I bought the game 2 months ago, and I know ppl will be like "why not just play the game, why do you need a shiny to start playing" see I have never captured or bred my own shiny Pokémon, ever, not for lack of trying mind you, I have just never been very lucky with it, I've been trying to breed a shiny Cyndaquil using the Mas method on Pokémon Y and soft resetting for a Treecko on Omega Ruby, like I said ive been soft resetting for nearly 2 months with no avail, and don't even get me started on how many eggs I have hatched for a Cyndaquil, and still nothing. I just must be really unlucky cause I see ppl get it in 50 resets or 100 eggs, and it makes me feel...............well disappointed.

But in the same vein, when it does finally happen, it's going to be something of beauty you can just brag about, and say you did, pulling through the thick and thin. Some people are just lucky, as they get it in like 100 or even 1 try, but some just can't seem to get it going, even going years of not finding one. I can't say it isn't stressful or disappointing to keep moving on like there's no hope in sight. I felt that way here, and felt that way when i hunted for a Shiny Lugia, but I can say I tried. It's up to you, not anyone else, to say enough is enough, or try again later. But it is also you to keep going and pursue your passion of finally seeing it, and finally feeling accomplished over attempt after attempt. With those words said, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

Well, both at the time and now, I still have no idea. I lost the number about on the 2nd day I think. Unless there's a way I can check that on my 3DS, A good estimate I'd say, would be over 2,000.

There is none. It's a mechanic in the game where you press and hold down L + R + Start/Select, it resets the game. Though I think it's for Pokemon only.

If something seems to hard for me to do I give up either in the beginning or half way through, I get headaches from doing the same thing over and over, but when I'm determined I really go for it, if my hearts not in it then it's a lost cause ;-;

Well that's a fine mentality honestly, though at least for me, when I get a goal, I am too stubborn to just give up. I tend to push myself further than I should to make my goals reach, and my hard work paid off. ^^ Needless to say, it's not like it comes with it's heavy drawbacks. I mean I've lost a bit of sanity while doing this, and did gain a few headaches, but hey, that's why we take breaks I suppose. But seriously, if you have a goal or something you want to go for, chase after it with endless vigor. c: It will come eventually.

The best thing I can say to do, is keep patient, and don't over-do it. You can take breaks, since there's no "chaining" to be had here. Maybe while doing it, watch something, about 80% of my shinies happened by me least expecting it. Like this Treecko was found when I quickly glanced at the game while fixing music in SSB4. But this is more of a personal tactic. Above all, just keep at it. With a bit of hope, and determination, it should appear eventually.
