I remember this video very well, back in 2018 I decided to beat the 100 streak challenge for the golden medal. I found your video and followed your team composition as much as I could. I had 3 close calls on different occasions due to the guaranteed 1-Hit KO moves BS, but thanks to substitute I managed to absorb them until they ran out of PP. I’m sorry it came extremely late, but I thank you for inspiring me with this strategy.

actually, critical hits do 2x the damage without the defence boosts. eg, if surf was doing about 20 when you had max sp def, then it would have done about 80 without any boosts. this means a crit (no matter how many times you'd used amnesia) would do about 160 damage.

hey fatum, nice to see ya :) and yeah - even without a choice scarf that magnezone keeps using it over and over again, but with the scarf its just ridiculous. actually at that point you'll see a pause in the battle, where i was trying to switch salamence in, but was hampered by magnezones magnet pull (which i didnt notice a couple of times with the camera in the way).

@furduhaai ok - gyarados is a parent for DD (so is kingdra, dragonite, etc). 1HKO moves are a pain - there are ways to get around them, but they are not 100%. substitute is the main thing.

@zzzrobix definitely considered dragon claw. he usually can use earthquake before absolutely having to resort to outrage. and the berry helps him too. in rare circumstances, eg a (levitating) latios using thunderwave, i often use my latias to charm it down to -6 attack, then salamence sets up and stalls out thunderwave and lets it struggle to death.

@l3iiSON they all have perfect IVs (bred/caught using RNG abuse) , and were carefully EV trained. so they're basically as high as possible. if you bred that 832 salamence the usual way, you did very well.

@m1nayondaime - oh, it's just exploiting the fact that the game is less random than you might think with the way it gives things like stats/shininess - essentially if you click buttons at the right time, you can aim for specific things like shininess. it's harder than it sounds, but if you do a google search for pokemon rng abuse, you'll find some information.

@l3iiSON actually it's no problem at all. if the second or third poke uses it, i'm already set up so usually wipe them out before they even try. if the first pokemon gets locked into double team, then i have an easy time setting up salamence who then has 7 chances to hit them with a move (double team has 15 PP).

@ImpOverpower they would both attack it. when fully set up, outrage is pretty close to a OHKO (if not a OHKO, it's been a while since i've done the calculuations). and registeel does fine, even against things like lanturn and heatran (which resist steel 4x). the only problem is i think the occasional skarmory with roar/whirlwind, which have to be dealt with specially. you're usually on the 2nd or 3rd poke by that stage, and if you can get a couple of setup moves, you've ot a decent chance.

@etrigan778 because very occasionally i would get into a position where salamence had to face an opponent without any previous set-up. i actually used to have him trained with far less speed, but encountered such a situation (which i fortunately survived) but decided straight-away it was more beneficial. besides, when he's fully set up, the extra few hit points don't help him any more than a few more speed point.

IT's called RNG abuse. Basically, the game's random number generator is very predictable, so if you know what time to click when receiving the egg (etc), you can get flawless pokemon. There are some good guides on Smogon if you want to do it yourself.

I have the same team as you, but, the EV's and Latias's moves are a little different. Latias Calm - Choice Scarf EV's 100 SAtk / 100 Spd / 128 Def / 172 SDef -Trick -Thunder Wave -Surf -Mist Ball

@Com101smurdy well, given that they were all captured rather than bred, the answer is technically no. but yes, they were rng'd to have perfect IV's (except the registeel is just *very close* to perfect).

I have the exaxt same team as yours but the attack of salamence is 181 and speed 132 instead of 205 and 150. Latias also has a lower speed. Since ''dragon dance'' is an egg move, what would be a good replacement? I thought of: leer, focus energy, scary face, shadow claw or swagger.........

***** I know. Choice Band is useful and powerful, but I think that it is also too limiting, most of all in Battle Tower. I mean, in BTower, you don't know which pokémon you are going to face, therefore being forced to use only one move is dangerous. I tried it sometimes, but I fight better without it. As far as concerns Slaking I can say that it's a beast, but its ability is really annoying... Moreover I couldn't fully exploit its capacities because some TMs (such as Earthquake) are too much difficult to obtain, and I know that a good Slaking needs Eartquake to easily deal with lots of pokémon. I appreciate your help, you're very useful. Thanks a lot. But, the problem is that nowadays is difficult to find the items or some important moves that are necessary to build the team I'd like. Hey I just found your video, its awesome and it gets even better because of the song you used! Idk if you still remember anything about pokemon but I have a question. My team is Raikou, Salamance, and Heatran. I’m having trouble finding a better tank for the team and Heatran is lackluster since you can’t ev train it for the level 50 fights (I’m playing on platinum so it already came at level 50). I do have a beldum I could use to breed for Metagross but I wanna be sure I don’t waste hours grinding up a beldum and then find a better tank. My starter was infernape if you needed to know. Tl;dr What’s a good tank to replace Heatran, I can’t use any event pokemon btw

no difference at all. you just have to remember that their stats are different at level 50. so if you're aiming to outspeed a certain pokemon, the speed EVs you need might be slightly different than if you were training a level 100 pokemon.

Nice video/strategy but why doesn’t the AI ever switch out the moment it’s locked into one move after being tricked into having choice scarf from your Latias? Especially if it’s locked into using a non attacking move like Sunny Day or Thunder Wave or Calm Mind?

I don't remember now - I think I got the EV suggestion from Smogon, and the attack EV's were to make sure it's attacks could kill certain threats. You could probably move them to def/spdef without much problem.

I’m trying to reache the 100 streak I’m using the same strategy but with a uxie replacing latias , who did you handle the crits? Because sometimes when i get around the 70th battle i lose due to multiple unlucky crits (in a row)

If you have a sub up, crits will only destroy that, so you have a chance to recover. Unfortunately you do sometimes get really bad luck, and there isn't much you can do but start again. But yes, sub is a really important protection against crits, not to mention quick claw, etc.

mine is adamant nature, which boosts attack. i've also bred and trained it specifically to have the maximum possible. a level 50 salamence can't have higher than 205 attack.
