I've slept through alarms that are across the room (and disabled the clock in my sleep), slept through a hurricane, and used alarms that are recordings of gunshots playing next to my head and slept through those too. Multiple alarms are mandatory if I'm not waking up at what I consider a normal time.

If you’re playing 4.0 or 4.1, I think it’s a lot harder than 3.1. I remember being disappointed with how easy it was when PChal played it, though that may have been a 2.x revision

I am someone who sets 50 million alarms to get up, I would just set one if I could, I've tried to in the past. I literally cant I do it this way so I can actually be up because an hour of annoyance is a lot more likely to get me up than a few seconds. A better alarm wont help too, mine beeps like a fire alarm and shakes my bed and I still almost sleep through it

I was 100% this way, and I’m not saying it will work for you, but Ant brought up the alarm on the other side of the room thing and that works for me. I bought the loudest alarm I could find and put it as far away from my bed in my room as possible. Physically getting up and walking made the difference for me. Not saying it’s full proof. Just worked for me.

Getting up to turn it off then not letting myself lay down is very effective. The whole just act and don't give yourself time to think thing. Careful if you do play it. Beecause depending on the version hard-core mode just outright cheats... the game can see what moves you pick and will play around it accordingly

I use protect very often, and 95% of the time the AI tries to attack instead of setting up or using hazards or whatever. you'd think they do so if they knew that I was gonna protect, right? but yeah this is just normal mode, may be different on hardcore idk

I feel like roms such as these are more edifying while being played with nuzlocke rules in play simply because having more options with deaths and encounters and whatnot make the gameplay more complicated while still being challenging whereas when you only get one encounter per route and are forced to value those encounters it sort of forces you to lock in and make decisions in order to meet whatever goal your aiming for. But to each his own I guess, I feel the skills and knowledge smallant has give him the ability to more easily nuzlock a game like this rather than play it casually but if he has more fun with it this way then that's best lol.(also my point is moot)
