Well Joven, you see there's a thing called Stab, that means flareon's fire attacks do more than a ground attack from Parasects. Also Parasect happens to be 4x weak to fire being bug/grass and all. Also bonemerang would have missed even without the use of fly. Charizard is flying/fire.

Yes Joven, Parasect is a Bug/Grass type, meaning it takes 4x damage from fire moves, and STAB coming from Flareon which is why you didn't kill it using dig.

The reason peresect died and flareon didn't is because peresect is 4X weak against fire and flareon used a STAB and strong attack. STAB is when a pokemon uses a move that is the same type as it.

Damien Soon not in Gen 1 cuz 1. Dark didn’t exist yet 2. Bug only had 3 moves of its type: Twineedle, Leech Life and Pin Missle which were weak 3. All ghost type moves were physical, and the Gengar line was weak to psychic due to their poison typing So in conclusion, Psychic types were OP not due to there being no counters, but those counters could be countered themselves.
