Likely, the "Pepsi for TV-game" line was the result of a Japanese line being translated too literally into English. Basically, the word for "videogame" in Japanese was actually called "Terebi-gaemu (テレビ ゲーム)," or literally, "TV-game." Hence the translation. Just something interesting I felt like sharing for anyone who's curious.

When Pepsiman was played at a GDQ, they talked about the guy who played him, and sent viewers to his twitter, and he spent the next day talking about the game, how he ended up doing it, stuff like that. He's a nice guy who seems to view it as a funny part of his past and is more than willing to engage with it, so it probably wasn't a big issue to get him.
