I think the main reason they stopped doing proper sequels is cause of sales, Pokemon black 2 and white 2 sold the same as emerald, platinum, and silver. (Basically initial games sell really well, while the updated remake does well but not as much) Since the game got treated the exact same as an updated remake, despite it being a proper sequel. I’m guessing they decided that it wasn’t worth the effort to make a sequel, when it’ll basically be treated like an updated remake. Worst part is that I’m pretty sure X and Y were going to have sequel like games, only for the sales numbers to roll in and have them be cancelled 😭

I agree, other's will say Gen 4 was peak, but Gen 5 has the best story that spans across literal years and each character has a purpose, backstory, etc. To me, it feels like the most time and care went into it. Then Gen 6 came out and it was fun, but they did not feel the same and I was still younger when they came out and I always preferred the 2d sprites rather than 3d.
