1:03 Nah including SM is crazy💀. Those games were really fun, had a lot of content, had a great story, introduced regional forms, and actually had the national dex in it. For SM, they even took a year (2015) just to make sure the games were polished. Gen 8 onwards though I can 100% understand

SM is still lacking compared to the 2D games, though. First of all, it's extremely linear and hand-holdy; where are the dungeons and puzzles, and optional areas with unique things to find like say, Pokemon FireRed's Seafoam Islands with the navigation puzzles to earn Articuno? Or, say, the puzzles in HeartGold's Ruins of Alph to spawn the different Unown forms, or access the back rooms behind the puzzles? How about routes that have a lot of nooks and crannies to explore that you can come back to later, with a Metroidvania style upgrade like Surf or Strength, and access a new portion of them to find unique and rare mon you can't get anywhere else, or rare items and trainers, like Union and Dark Cave in Johto, or the Whirl Islands? Modern Pokemon has a serious level design problem now, since HMs haven't been replaced with something else like in Let's Go Pikachu, to still have that sort of depth in the overworld. Now the areas are all bland and empty.

@@tamerkohfair, even though SM and USUM were flawed and lacking compared to the 2D games but at least those games had all of the Pokémon unlike swsh, bdsp, sv, etc

@@tamerkohthe tapus, backside of poni island, looker quests, ultra wormhole, zygarde in usum, necrozma in sm, and finding *all* z crystals (not just story ones that are given to you) do this. Sun and moon and especially the ultra games have a post game similar to the 2d games. Its just the early game makes it a slog, but even then its because they pack too much dialogue in there, alola couldve really benefited from a way to skip stuff like the trainer school or like a 5x scroll through text. For me, post game is more important than early game even if it makes replaying a bit annoying. I mean cmon, USUM are the first games that let you get all the legendaries… if you have both versions. Which needing both versions was a problem even for 2d games; rayquaza in hgss, landorus in bw, regigigas in diamond and pearl and even platinum if you didnt get the event regigigas to open the chambers for the regi trio. etc;

Ah yes, pokemons "last chance"... as if they aren't the biggest franchise in the world, Scarlet and Violet totally aren't one of the best selling pokemon games despite how flawed and lowkey terribly made they are, and the pokemon fans totally wont just buy the new game because its a new pokemon game and it doesnt matter how good or bad it is, the fans will buy it... I love pokemon. I understand the serious flaws and downgrade in quality the franchise is taking. Yet I also understand that pokemon WILL NOT suddenly fail and drop in popularity because another game is mid. As the other comments have pointed out, pokemon does SO MUCH MORE than just games. Pokemon will not have its "last chance" for another solid 20-40 years. Pokemon Games are not everything the franchise has- more bad games will barely leave a dent in the amount of money pokemon has to throw at more game development. And also- no, no games are going to challenge pokemon's monopoly on the monster collecting franchise. I dont care how many people say "Palworld is better and is going to replace pokemon" its not. Maybe it will in 10 or so years, but right now? Theres not even a chance pokemon gets toppled by a rival monster collecting franchise. All pokemon needs to do to have the attention back on them is announce a new game with a small teaser trailer and everyone is suddenly back on pokemon and obsessed with them. Lmao "Nintendo"s SECOND biggest money cow." Dude. Pokemon, as a franchise alone, makes so much money that it is more than 3% of ALL JAPAN GDP. This is more than the ENTIRE automotive industry in Japan (all of Toyota, Lexus, Nissan combined), which only brings in 2.9% yearly. Which significant because Japan is the 3rd leading country in world GDP, making 4.21% of the entire worlds money. Pokemon is so large that it has its own section for stock and commercial use for national and international financial news, as well as entertainment news. Pokemon makes so much merchandise that you can literally replace all products in your daily life with pokemon products. And above all that, it makes over 3 million in Jet Aircraft sales & livery, yearly 😂 they sell planes, advertisement and plane accessories bro Mario only makes 30 billion. Pokemon makes 90 billion. Its 3x bigger than Mario. Games are just a small piece, and have effectively become advertising for the brand Pokemon is litterally a global powerhouse, and makes more money than entire countries.

Although Pokémon Is WAY Bigger Than Mario As A Whole, For Nintendo Specifcally, Who ONLY Do The Video Games, Pokémon Is Less Profitable Than Mario. The Pokémon Company Own Everything Else To Do With Pokémon, Nintendo, Although Having A Large Influence At TPC, Are Not TPC And Thus Don't See The Profits On Pokémon Outside Of The Video Games They Publish For TPC. Don't Get Me Wrong, There Are Other Things To Point Out, But This One Wasn't It As It Is One Of The Few Correct Points Made.

Western Pokemon fans seem to struggle to grasp you can play more than one monster collector JRPG. Dragon Quest had been doing monster collecting for years before Pokemon came to be but Japanese gamers did not suddenly stop playing Dragon Quest games after Pokemon came out. They continued playing Dragon Quest games and still played other monster collectors like Digimon and Yo-Kai Watch.

Personally, I think voice acting to be the lowest priority of any thing for a new pokemon game, or even completely unnecessary. I'd rather they have good game features, it runs well, and has all the pokemon programed into it before voice acting. Cause it'd be like adding icing to a crappy cake, the icing is nice but the cake itself is still pretty crap.

I’d argue that including voice acting should be a priority now since starting from legends arceus, the games started having more dialogue and a bigger story focus compared to previous games Gen 5 gets away with this because it was still 2D pixel art, so just reading the text in that style felt fitting and allowed you to imagine the scene somewhat Whereas the later games in the 3D era have much more detailed models, so it’s jarring to not hear any voices from them and voice acting would help a lot with cinematic scenes and times where multiple characters are talking like when all your conpanions are with you at area zero

Scarlet ans Violet was a shit show.... and yet they are one of the best selling pokemon games of all time. Even if the game sucks, the fans will buy it. Pokemon is the #1 Franchise for a reason, Pokemon Legends ZA is not going to make or break this franchise..

I like the designs, I like the atmosphere, I like the world, I like whatever sparse lore they throw in there. I also really like turn-based games. And I’m fine with the mechanics not changing much, because I kind of like familiarity, doing very similar things in a different place isn’t boring for me. I don’t need the game series I play to completely reinvent the formula every time to keep my interest. I kinda just like having a cool dog, meeting cool characters, & chilling. Though, I’d be interested to know what kinds of game series (if any, maybe you’re not really a “series” person) you do like, & feel don’t copy & past their games, as you put it. Like, do you have any specific things you most feel need to change between games?

@@voilet-the-non-violet-vulpix i personally don't play any mario games but the 3d ones are all different in their own way or a lot of games just add features as they go along like most playstation games (god of war,spiderman ...) I tthink the games that do it the worst are fifa and pokemon bc essentially they just change a texture and give it stats and that's a new player/pokemon. Also you asked for a franchise that isn't copy pasted: i consider fromsoft's list of games to be a series bc they are the same genre and released pretty consistently and sekiro, bloodborne, elden ring and the dark souls dark souls trilogy (wich was a bit copy pasted but acceptable bc the games were very different in terms of quality and difficulty) all innovated on ewch other and are very different from each other especially in the way that you play them unlike pokemon Ps: i wasn't criticising the world building, pokemon designs or originality.
