So I have heard this argument a lot. i think the what most people dont consider is just what is being loaded into the game. in this pokemon game there is a maximum of 15 pokemon loaded in at one time that you the player can see and interact with. Every single one of those pokemon are spawned in with a set nature, set IVs and the posiblity of being shiny. So as you are just walking around the world, pokemon are constently being despawned and new ones being spawned in. That is a lot of information that the game has to constently be loading. In comparison to the last pokemon game ledgends arceus, those pokemon spawns are set as soon as you arive in the area you go to, running through the area wont despawn any pokemon to allow new spawns to appear and the only way to get fresh spawns is to go to camp and move the day forward by sleeping or returning back to the vilage. I myself compleatly understand the frustration of playing a vidogame at 10 frams in 2022.
@macnasty8300 Жыл бұрын
@@djslavin3140 I disagree honestly. The pokemon company does not operate the same way as EA or Take 2 or other heartless gaming companies. For instance, the CEO of the pokemon company is Tsunekazu Ishihara, who is one of the people who directly helped produce and develop the original pokemon games. I made a comment about this a bit in this video pointing out that the largest media franchise has to stick to its release date for the game in order for the other pillars of the franchise to continue. There is nothing else planned in the card game or anime for gen 8 and if they pushed back the release of this game then the card release and anime would get pushed back as well. you could definitely make the argument that postponing the game would still be beneficial for the pokemon company in the long run. This is just how I understand / rationalize such a poorly released game.

Honestly no it wouldn't. Not unless it was made in the PS2/OG Xbox Era (even then it would be questionable). The problem is the complete lack of quality. Everything about the game just screams "IDGAF". It's not the graphics it's the textures, art, and complete lack of any depth. Indie games are passion projects and dev teams of any size pouring their souls into games and ensuring they achieve the best for what they CAN with their limited budget and size. They also don't rush games out to meet deadlines. Stardew valley was made by one person and it IS impressive because of the thought and passion put into it. It exceeds many AAA titles in terms of depth to character and world building and player experience. The game knew it couldn't offer any insane graphics so it specifically chose an art design that it could make look good. And again that was one person that just cared about the product they made.

It isn't possible when you have to meet a dead line inside of 3 years. You also have most game developers were trained on game engines so retraining them to code in C and nothing but C for the chips used on the hardware will take a lot of time. It also restricts what chips you can use to chips made to work with C unless you want to teach your developers more than 1 programming language to make a game in. Then you have when a bug happens where in the lines of code is it? C isn't that easy to debug but if you are using another chip that using an entirely different programming language then you will either 1 need an employee that can read then debug in both or have 2 that will work together and not blame 1 another for writing faulty code. The reason why APIs came into existence is how repetitive the code was was. Using a API puts more into RAM but it also reduces how big the code the programmer has to write will be. IDEs are good for programming as they can pick up on coding errors and help you find which line they were in. Thankfully they also don't impact the compile size of the code. Then you have game engines. They make the process of making a game even easier and possible to make 1 inside of 2 years. The main issue with game engines is the bigger size and the put that their run time has to be there. APIs are made to be small enough that they don't interfere with how much time the program will take to run nor take up to many resources to load into RAM. Game engines well it depends as each one seems to handle it in their own way.

Plenty of other games have managed to do it, including games that are open-world like these are.

There's at least 10-16 pokemon spawning on screen at a time(different sizes, natures, stat spreads, ect) per biodome(lakes and grasslands while in the same area have sperate spawns) compared to a game like neir automa. I think one of the worst issues is when your game stays on for too long and becomes progressively worse in frame rate (I saw someone refer to the issue has memory leak somewhere). Like game goes from already low frames to less than normal making it even more unplayable. And to fix that problem you have to reset the game. I think the game in concept is very fun but having my character go 2 frames a second to then having lighting glitches is so hard to enjoy. They definitely need to fix that issue with a new update. I think overall this is a good step for Pokémon if they can execute it better and I think half the battle is having a better performance console which we’ll hopefully get soon. Like I REALLY want to like the game because it’s fun to play but the performance and visual glitches are so off putting imo.

Graphical and performance issues aside, I’m so baffled by Game Freak boasting about the “Three different storylines!!” It’s the same things you do in a Pokémon game anyway. They just let you go out of order now. I remember when I first played Skyrim in 2011, I felt that each faction’s storyline could be a main quest in itself. I remember thinking, “This is what the stories of open world games are going to become from now on!” …I was wrong.

the pokemon company is not the same as other gaming companies. A delay in the release means that everything has to be delayed. that includes both the anime and the card game. I'm just a little disappointed that they haven't added any sort of level scaling system for the gym leaders. The only incentive to actually do the gym challenge is because it makes Pokemon a little easier to catch, that's it. I spent so much time running around, doing Tera Battles, and just a bunch of other stuff that my Pokemon got super over leveled and the gym challenge was extremely easy. There's been lots of criticism over the years of "oh, Pokemon is so easy now" but in this game's case, it rings true. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a ton of fun, but the pacing is totally off, and it really is quite easy.

Honestly, having a blast with the game so far. The performance issues are legit holding it back though. And battle transitions can sometimes end with the camera sticking underground on very steep slopes and etc. Wild Pokémon battle transitions also… kinda like pause for a second or two. It doesn’t happen all the time but often and long enough to be noticeable. Gameplay wise, it does feel very different from most other Pokémon games. I’d say the best part is nailing the Pokémon variety and sense of exploration. Traveling around the land to see what sorts of different Pokémon one may find is probably my favorite part of the game. Legends Arceus had better mechanics but the big seamless open world and tons of new Pokémon made this a lot more fun to explore. The new Pokémon are kind of an acquired taste. As someone who loved playing PLA and put in hours in that game. I was hooked with the new catching mechanic’s & explorations of the Pokémon world. It was really fun. There was this feeling of the unknown and I loved that. With all the new mechanics they added I was forgiving for the pop in and the lack of detail in the world. But for this new main line pokemon game I really thought they had enough time to fix all these problems and learn from there mistake while adding what we loved from PLA but I was wrong. This game feels, rushed it feels like the devs really don’t care. Even the Pokémon look ehhh. It’s sad honestly because they can really make a beautiful, fun & exciting Pokémon game with DLC that will make you want to rush and download it. I won’t be buying this one unfortunately because the only way for them to learn is by not giving them my money.
@preemptivefaceplant52772 жыл бұрын
I think you are wrong in some of these. Yes its a bit buggy But i like the battle mechanic. It doesnt feel rushed. the story and the areas are beautiful. saying its rushed or the devs dont care is because it doesnt have the exact things you want from a previous. Thats you making a personal excuse on why you dont want to play it. Not because of the devs lack of caring. Alot of the pokemon look nice to me. NO one is every happy with pokemon designs, literally never an any generation so thats a personal thing. (nostalgia for older pokemon games dont mean the design of the pokemon were any better) The game isnt bad, the issue is Its like trying to play the the newest world of warcraft on an old original xbox or ps1. what they are trying to do just isnt meant for the switch. they need a better updated console. Nintendo consoles are just not built for what they are trying to do. So all in all, you are using personal reasons for why you dont want to play the game and blaming it on the the devs not caring. If you like PLA better because you dont have to battle pokemon to catch them, cool. But dont blame the devs for "not caring about the game" thats an excuse.

Except that Pokemon levels do not scale. You could immediately make a Combeeline right for the northern areas and be encountering Pokemon that are lvl 40-50 well before your Pokemon are anywhere ready to take them on. Same with the trainers, gyms, and star-bases. While the game DOES let you go wherever you want once the open world starts, it is painfully clear that they want you to go/do things in a certain order. It doesn't matter how many bases or gyms you defeat, the levels do not scale. So you could very easily go up to the higher level areas and painfully work your way to the higher gyms earning enough badges so that your higher level Pokemon will listen to you...then just return to the lower level gyms, trainers, and bases and completely steamroll them. I watched a streamer play through the game and he figured he'd just work in a counter-clockwise way around the map. And the gym lvls jumped so high for him very quickly because the 4th gym he got to is technically suppose to be the 8th gym you face. He didn't even stand a chance and was stomped. Afterwords, he did a little digging and learned that the levels do not scale and the reason why the levels of the Pokemon he was facing jumped so high rather quickly and were too strong for him was because there is technically a set path the game wants you to follow in order to make progression much smoother and less of a hassle.

But GameFreak still get away with it because it's a Pokémon game, so people will buy it regardless of quality.

I knew that the big talk would be about the performance, but I have to say that I’m really enjoying the game. So far, I’ve probably put in about 20 hours and I haven’t had the performance get in the way of the actual gameplay. I’m overwhelmed with the amount Pokémon everywhere, the quest options, and the classic grind, in a way that is really fun. It is scratching that Pokémon itch that Ive had for a while now. It’s just kinda funny to walk around and see npcs move like cardboard cutouts hobbling around. Maybe I’ll change my mind after putting more time in, but for now, this game is great.

Performance issues aside, it really sounds like what you like about the gameplay is being forced out of you because "its an itch that needs to be scratched" Dirty heroine in a used needle will do that to.. doesnt mean its good.

@@subservient8 no your kinda just telling yourself that. i've been playing it for awhile too and i haven't run into these issues or major performance problems, i was one of the people that got the games early so i've put in a solid amount of hours the frames drops i barely see any and when i do it's for like 0.5 seconds... barely noticeable it's like a hicup, glitches I haven't seen any. i have however seen graphic issues, shadows , camera clipping ect. the performance does change when your connected with friends though that's when i feel fps drops.. but offline i haven't noticed it. my problems with the game isnt performance or graphics but the actual gameplay it's self or more the limits it places when it's suppose to be open which is highly aggravating.

I got the game 4 days ago. I didn't watch any reviews on it whatsoever. I didn't know anyone was talking about the performance issues and numerous bugs. I also haven't played a Pokemon game since Pokemon X and Y. With that said. I have almost no issues with this game AT ALL. Yes, there are some frame drops, but they are so infrequent and minor they don't take away from the game at all. It's also a slow paced game, it's turn based! Its not supposed to play like a COD title. So any of the very infrequent frame drops don't bother me in the slightest. It's also DRASTICALLY better than X and Y from a gameplay perspective. So many quality of life improvements, the fact that it feels like a live world with all the pokemon that are running around. The game is incredible. Maybe I just don't understand where people are coming from because I haven't played a Pokemon title in so many years and I missed the boat on "better running titles" but I have absolutely no complaints about this one.

Seems it’s less they don’t want to create a good video game and more they’re creating a flashy showcase with as little as they can get away with, to sell merchandise. Really breaks my heart because Pokémon games have been a huge part of my childhood. 😢
