Friendly reminder that Ganondorf was extremely lucky to get into Melee. First, it was only because Sakurai overestimated the time and resources needed to complete the game that the clones made it in: Falco, Pichu, Child Link, Dr. Mario, Roy, and Ganondorf, who was the final character chosen and added.. Second, he was popularly requested and had just starred in Ocarina of Time. Thirdly, there was an already-existing model for him from the Spaceworld 2000 GameCube tech demo. Finally, his physique was similar enough to Captain Falcon's for him to be added as a clone, hence why he doesn't use his sword. As a Ganondorf main, this knowledge makes me very happy.

Even then, Roy is still unique with his move set, sharing very few moves in common with Marth. Then even when adding a sword to Ganondorf's kit in Ultimate, it's just Ike's charge moves. I find nothing wrong with clones, in the end it just means more characters and more ways to play, more weight classes. It could lead to a lazy game if it was in anyone else's hands, bhut Sakurai took great care to make even clones stand out with unique gimmicks. Even Pichu who is probably the worst clone, probably has some main out there, because while it is weaker and hurts itself, it is still faster than Pikachu because it's lighter. So if you play your cards right, even lil ol Pichu could mop the floor with someone as tanky as Bowser, DK, or Ganondorf.

Yeah normal doesn't make sense, but I think it's more from the perspective of you know animals. Like Pyroar should be pure fire, it only has normal type cause it's just a lion. Psychic oddly enough reflects people's fears of ghosts, the theory is being the 6th sense enhances your abilities but also makes you more susceptible to the 3 most common things people fear, the dark, bugs (predominantly arachnophobia), and ghost.

If anything, Normal should, defensively and offensively, be neutral to everything, because of the seeming intent behind the type, but since they even bothered to make it have offensive/defensive interactions, the Normal/Ghost interaction makes sense, as normally, a fight between a person and a spirit would go nowhere. Phasmophobia is already covered by the Psychic/Ghost interaction.

I mean notice how none of the normal types don't look human, outside of Regigigagas a Golem legnedary, and Meloetta but even then she's based off Gods and has either psychic or fighting type with that normal type. Meanwhile you look at more human inspired ones like Gardevoir, Gallade, Machamp they're typically psychic or fighting type. Mosty humans would probably fall into the fighting type category, thus explaining the weakness to enhanced humans (psychics), to which then they are weak to as I said the 3 greatest fears among humanity. Meanwhile fighting types also can't hit ghosts. Their super effectiveness on normal, might indicate you know humans being above other animal species. At least that's my theory and take lol. If I had to group humans into a typing I feel like fighting is the better fit, maybe normal type for children, but once you reach adulthood typically fighting, and a select few might go into other types... probably not many outside of psychic, then we've seen humans possessed by ghosts, so maaaaybe they'd count as ghost type humans. Like swimmers aren't spitting water like a squirtle, a fire breather is using magic tricks not spitting out flames like a charmander... we're not plants lol, so not grass type. As many times as Ash and Team Rocket have taken Pikachu's electricity maybe they're electric or ground type lol. If you had a cyborg, steel type. Don't think anything else really fits... I mean I guess if you carry a flu or disease maybe you've temporarily become poison type lol. Dragon Tamers are like Bagons... in that they dream of flying, difference is though they can't actually become dragons while Bagon will eventually get its wings to fly and achieve its dreams. Fairy I might see, in a similar sense to ghost and psychic type, possession and enhanced powers. Brock loves rocks but he is not one, again fitting fighting type lol (interesting... is he super effective against his favorite type?). Sorry so long, just started theorizing and day dreaming. Anyways yeah I think most humans are normal as children, fighting as adults, then select few might fall into psychic, ghost, fairy, or dark.

Outside of the monster tamer genre, ghosts are often depicted as needing to possess something to physically interact with the material plane, meaning that should that capability be removed from the equation, the ghosts of a trillion lions would be as useless against a trillion more lions as their disintegrated bodies would have been against the Sun; said trillion lions would, in turn, would be as useless against those ghost lions as they would be against the Sun.

However ehhh I think on his part this is wrong too, again because they are all just typical animals. You use lions as an example well look at Pyroar, vs Entei, vs Solgaleo all 3 are lions. 1 is just a lion with magical fire abilities, vs Entei is embodiment of fire, brought back from death by Ho-Oh to be fire itself. A semi legendary, vs full on legendary Solgaleo based on the alchemic lion that consumes the sun, that its psychic type comes from the angle that psychic also is light type, in a scientific sense. The ability to bend absorb, or reflect light, Lunala does this too, then Necrozma being a living black hole takes it steps further. We shouldn't look at this as oh yeah some rando dude, because it's a world of magical fire breathing lizards, water shooting turtles, literal dragons, monster bugs the size of cars, dinosaurs, and gods. Normal type isn't... people, it's just regular things, and even humans within this world can fall into different types. Again for same logic that is why fighting type has its weaknesses and strengths, it is similar to normal type in many regards. Any adult dude or lady can throw a punch or kick, thus fighting type, I mean look at Tyrogue, just a baby fighting dude. It isn't committed to 1 fighting style like its evolutions, yet is still capable of throwing a punch or kick like anyone else. You mention other monster catches as a genre, but Pokemon is also an RPG. Shadow magic is a thing in many RPGs, in fact the special attack and defensive stats are "magic" stats when put alongside an RPG. Now ghost type is a physical type, probably because it needs to intereact physically in a similar sense to what you said. However ghost type Pokemon like Haunter and Gengar also move in shadows, the 1st and only gen 1 ghost line, aren't possessing anything, but are capable of possessing humans. Along with their inate ability to telepathically control things, thus why they can also use psychic moves. Meanwhile gen 2's ghost type Misdreavus is based on a banshee, another ghost that doesn't need to interact with things to affect others. It isn't until Shuppet line in gen 3 where we see ghost types that possess things to physically manifest, but even then there's also the Duskull line and Sableye. I... don't understand the relevance of the sun or 1 trillion lions or 1 trillion... ghost lions? It sounds more like you're saying zombie lions though since their disintegrated bodies are in your equation? I'm not understanding this angle. Think of it from the RPG angle, because that's where all the battle mechanics come from, it's an RPG franchise. Think about magic, again you got just a lion but that breathes fire, a lion brought back from the dead as a living flame, and a lion capable of eating the sun. That's what separates normal type from other types.

Some are inanimate objects like litwik, it's a candle not an animal. You got bugs if you're into that (personally not, many bugs gross me out or terrify me such as spiders or centipedes), dragons and other reptiles for those scaleys, furry bait like Lopunny or Lucario, you got actual animals like poor Vaporeon for those into beastiality or zoophilia, then you got a freaking living cake Pokemon, A CAKE HOW IS THAT AN ANIMAL?! Ghosts for those into necrophilia or spectrophilia. Then you got amorphous, of which the only animal like Pokemon is slugma, the rest are gooey like gulpin or grimer, ghosts, Alcremie (SERIOUSLY IT'S JUST FROSTING WITH AN I SEE DEAD PEOPLE EXPRESSION), and Gardevoir who wasn't added to human like until gen 8. Speaking of human like, some like Alakazam, Machamp... or er Mr Mime aren't based off of any animals, meanwhile again you got the furry baits like Lopunny... then there's Ditto, who note for note can turn into anyone or anything, from a rock to a Pokemon to a human. From a Geodude, to a Gardevoir, to a wild Cynthia. That can speak human language as of USUM, so you won't even know if it's your partner or a Ditto, Ditto to fit any need (and thus causing mass hysteria and panic because you don't know who to trust). So you may not even know if your human partner is human or a ditto, then you got people that probably ask their ditto to turn into pokeladies or pokelads like Cynthia, Lusamine, Volkner, etc for that purpose. Not saying I personally would, but that's just how some people work, and how ditto works, it note for note copies every single strand of DNA in the thing it is trying to copy. Every cell, every fiber, is copied and replicated so it can turn into absolutely anything and everything. I don't kink shame even if I don't agree with it or find something gross. Humans have loved the idea of this since humanity built their 1st civilization back 7000 years ago. Mesopatamia, they had stories of merpeople, the oldest monster species, constantly told of in tales by sailors, from the Greeks to Christopher Colombus. Humanity has always had some fascination with unhuman things, from being banged by monsters, animals creating monsters such as the Minotaur, or even being fluffed by their Gods. This is also why some Pokemon are safe to count as monsters... aside you know from being called pocket monsters shortened down, if they fit into the human like group especially. Like what would you call a Gardevoir if you compared it to a real world animal? Even among its original egg group amorphous, of which was its only egg group until gen 8, the only thing that is an animal in the group is slugma, the others are gooey creatures like grimer or gulpin, ghosts, and LIVING FROSTINE. Like Lopunny or Lucario also in the human like egg group yes those are obvious furry things, animals with human like features, then you got Alakazam (also with an IQ over 5000 the highest IQ ever is 240 I think, while I don't put much stock into it because I find it to be a flawed and false way to measure intelligence, Alakazam is smart), Machamp... and... err, Mr Mime if someone's into that. They're not really based on any animals, Machamp has some weird duck bill thing going on I guess. Metal slimes are basically the Chansey, Blissey, or Audinos for Dragon Quest. They have like a handful of hp, yet crazy evasion and defense, and give you EXP for days. The Pokemon however have insane HP and healing, yet the Chansey line in particular has no regular defense so they can die fast.
