I think it was a troll from Gamefreak. In usum, it took 3 minutes to reset for a shiny starter. Now we can save LITERALLY RIGHT NEXT TO IT, AND IT'S SHINY LOCKED!

Funny story about shiny zigzagoon. One time my sister was shiny hunting zigzagoon in sword. She had battled over 700 (non-consecutivily) and had a chain of over 25, but never found one. Switching gears, she also had pokemon ruby on her old tablet. And while we were grinding up trapinch to use arena trap ability on latios (which we actually encountered while grinding) we found a SHINY ZIGZAGOON. I was playing for her, and I screamed when I found it. I took a screenshot, and used an ultra ball on it while on speedup mode. I was shaking from the adrenaline, and we agreed on the name Citurs. It is now a linnone, and that's when I realized it looked like that character from avatar for the first time, and we taught it surf for the memes.

Yeah I decided to do this myself not long after SS came out. Started a new game, started grinding right after getting my starter. After about 20 hours(over several days) I got bored and decided to play something else. Every now and then since I will sit down and grind for an hour or three. Still never got that first shiny, the save has about 95 hours played so far.
