you need to use STAB moves (Same type attack bonus) like thunderbolt will do way more than shadow ball if preformed by a jolteon but the other way around if used by a gengar

The game is called Pokemon Showdown. But word of advice if your going to play it's really competitive. There are several websites that you can use to help you with building a competitive team such as Smogon, and Serebii. :)
