It makes since for them to be Psychic because if you look at all Pokémon related to space they are a Psychic type. I was thinking Psychic Fire and Psychic Water or Fairy type. But I knew for a fact Psychic was a given.

i think they're both Psychic with a secondary type that is weak to whatever they're based on: Steel < Fire (Sun) & Ghost < Dark (Night)

Cresselia and Lunatone aren't Fairy-type either.

They weren't conceived when the fairy type was around, and there's still a good opportunity for Cresselia at least to mega evolve into a fairy type. (Lunatone is more based on a rock) - regardless, Clefairy's dex information explicitly ties fairy types to the moon so I thought it was strange to not have the moon legendary be dark and fairy

Mat4yo In Cresselia's case, giving it a secondary Fairy-type could have worked, since it's a mono-type. Anyway, being Psychic-type still makes sense, since space-related stuff in the series has often been associated with Psychic-type. Moons are in space after all.
