When I was in 3rd grade, I was walking home from school (I lived at a trailer park town at the time) & saw a Ruby cartridge in the sand. I picked it up & it was saved at the Elite Four. I showed it to an older kid who sold ice cream in the neighborhood. He played it first & lost, then I played it without having ever played Pokemon before, not healing or even knowing how to play. My first Pokemon game was Ruby. Truth was I didn't know much about Pokemon games when I first started playing Ruby version. I also didn't know what Shiny Pokemon was back then. I had hard time finding certain locations. I remember my first starter was Torchic and I love Altaria, happy that it got Mega Evolution. Looking back sure brings back good old memories, first Pokemon game that I completed the National Dex was Alpha Sapphire. Such great memories. I grew up with Sapphire. When i was 6, my parents bought me a GBA-SP at a garage sale. With it came pokémon sapphire. I played it...probably countless times. I accidentally left it at a friends house once, and forgot to get it back. He moved, and it got lost. I was 9. Then, in 2017, for my 14th birthday, my parents bought me Alpha Sapphire. Speaking of the Game Corner... I'm planning some Pokémon fan games. If parents want to complain about the Game Corner being simulated gambling, well, heh heh heh, I'll give them something worse to complain about: fully functional Casinos, with every game you can think of (Omaha Poker is renamed Unova Poker, Texas Hold 'em becomes Lonestar Hold 'em, etc). I genuinely think these were the best remakes made by pokemon. Sure Soul Silver and Heartgold are fantastic games and i love them as i started actively playing pokemon games when those two released. But i consider them more as remasters than remakes. Where omega ruby and alpha sapphire really showed what game freak could do with an old title and region. The music department really knocked it out of the park as well with the kyogre/groudon encounter theme switching between the new song and the old song. The latios flying, mauville city being the big city... i could go on forever. Plus deoxys actually being a major part of the game and not a one time event and with it also being the first mythical pokenon to catch in a base game version. I never understood the hate for this game. Sure it may be easier in terms of the game itself but that doesnt make it worse than other titles and i feel like it should be appreciated more

Really at the end of the day, ORAS aren't just remakes of Ruby & Sapphire. They're kinda of like stand alone sequels to X & Y.
