Hey beard! What are your thoughts on grading promos with the plastic/cellophane still on? I saw that psa grades them like packs. I plan to send a few promos out to PSA and don’t know if I should take them out of the packaging or not. Thanks Beard!

If you get a ten on sealed, it’s a ten on the plastic not the card and it holds less value than an actual ten. I would send the actual card itself.

One thing that I do to save money and stay in the hobby is setting boundaries of what I collect. I only collect original 151 Pokémon and a few random pokemon that I like. Other than that I just don’t buy or keep any cards that are outside of my collection boundaries. It works for me. Maybe someone else can use it to stay in the hobby they love.

Playing the TCG really hasn’t been cheaper, and it’ll only get cheaper with all the re prints of good cards and the mass opening of product. Good place to go if you’re bummed with the price of opening the new sets right now.

QUESTION : I keep hearing people being concerned about not having sealed cases but even if the max is 2 ETB doesn't that just mean that sealed cases are now 2 instead of 4 ETBs? Would still keep that sealed case premium, no? I'm honestly confused and would love your insight on that. Thx!!

Hi beard. Unfortunately my preorder for my prismatic PC ETBs had to be cancelled due to an annoying technical glitch on the PC website, which made it unable to update my new card information! I will try my luck again on release day and hopefully I’m able to snag one. If I do miss out on the second round, I’ll be keeping an eye on eBay and try grabbing one for my personal collection, price depending. In your opinion, at what price point does a PC ETB become a bad sealed investment? Prismatic or otherwise. Personally I think more than 2x the price for a the newest set is a no go for me. When surging sparks came out it was also very expensive on eBay on release, but crashed down quickly as the market was flooded and now sits at around £100 each. I hope the same or similar for prismatic so the people who missed out get an opportunity.

REPEAT QUESTION: Hey Beard! I been back collecting since 2022 (1991 kid!),buying for binders.I switched to a different mind set (1y ago) buying only sealed products and few cards, as investment . I have close to 21k in my Pokémon portfolio now, invested around 8K. Wondering, when should I consider to sell? I’m totally confident that it can keep growing (amazing sets coming and 2026, 30th anniversary). Meanwhile I buy PC ETB and a BB from new sets coming out. I'm missing Obsidian Flames, Surging Sparks and want to get Journey Together too, but the prices are through the roof right now, even for presale (if you can even get it). In 2024 I was throwing my money here and there, made a ton of great deals but since Prismatic Evolutions mess started… my money is stacking in my bank and I don’t think like buying anything now is a great idea. Recently bought few booster boxes of early S&V era and probably will buy few more base set, Temporal Forces and Twilight Masquerade booster boxes but that’s really it. Am I missing out or actually doing smart thing by holding money for some potential crash in the market?

Paused at the 3 minute mark just to mention one thing. The idea of grabbing sleeved booster packs in my area isn't a thing right now. From Beginning of November up until end of December it progressively got harder and harder to find cards in the wild. Today, I went to my local Walmart, Target, GameStop, & 5 Below and it was 99.9% cleared out.

Have you thought about buying from TT? If you join some lives they rip packs out of sleeves. Source : me I sell on TT and rip some packs from sleeves, for example TF, SC, ST, PE, PR sometimes they are cheaper to buy sleeved cases. Now it’s little different lol

Look at every hobby card gaming and video games too, they are going to be expensive. Yugioh is definitely expensive due making overpowered cards, pokemon is depending the covers, MTG same way as yugioh and bandai games TCG is lot difficult due the price value. Anyone wants to quit, stick something you like and don’t have a problem. I love my card gaming, even it is pricy and take a chance.

How about legit buyers? New scam alert! You might want to mention Beard. I sold 36 sealed Evolving Skies booster packs I personally pulled from sealed pokeballs. Buyer claimed they were resealed? Absolutely impossible, And wanted half refund. I did do a half refund and he sent me back 16 booster packs. I ripped said 16 packs. Not 1 hit. Did he weight or scan the 36 packs then ask for half a refund then send me back the dead Packs? I have ripped 100 plus ES booster packs and never went 0/16.

I’ve said it about 20 times and I’ll say it again.. Pokerev definitely didn’t help the situation by making the video he did causing mass hysteria. The market will regulate with time.
