Fearow was originally stronger, so they gave Pideot a mega to make it just as good or even better. Milotic is stronger than Gyarados, so Gyarados gets a mega and Milotic doesn't.

Mega Evolution is looking cool but is stupid in Pokemon context... It makes people only choose pokemons with mega forms and so you can see lots of pokemon teams looking the same, i still remember when there was no pokemon team equal to the other. Also evolving and then coming back to normal form is NOT Pokemon, it seems like Digimon or the Naruto games "Awakening mode". Back in the day all pokemon were strong if well trained right now the ones with mega forms are clearly superior and are becoming mainstream.

Because both are false. There was never any point "back in the day" when all pokemon were strong if well trained, farfetch'd from gen 1 with it's pitifully low stats and abhorrent move pool is a very good example of that. There have always been some pokemon that are obviously better or worse than others, even as early as gen 1. Secondly, mega pokemon are not always "clearly superior." While the transformation may look cool graphically as far as the metagame is concerned the mega evolution is just an item, the megastone. And that's the main weakness; In competitive play items can make or break a pokemon, they are unfathomably important, so mega evolution costing your pokemon it's item slot isn't always worth it. With some pokemon the +100 stat boost and new ability isn't always enough, and they'd actually be better off with a real item than with a megastone. Hell, alot of competitive teams don't even run a mega evolution.

Dragon Master I don't know about all that, I don't only play pokemon for the competitive either. I also enjoy just picking pokemon for my team in story mode because I simply like them. I get what you're saying for that standpoint it can make the teams a little less interesting because everybody will have a mega just for the cool factor. But reverse that logic and you get alot of pokemon that used to be useless getting used because their megas breathed new life into them, like kangaskhan, mawile, or pinsir. So for all the potential harm they could do by making people's teams less diverse, they also can make people think about using a pokemon they normally never would have.

Dragon Master You seem to forget the fact that a Trainer is only allowed to use 1 Mega Evolution per battle. It would be stupid for someone to bring a team of full megas because they can only use 1 each battle. This fact alone balances Mega Evolution.

I have been playing from 3rd gen and I think the mega evolutions look awesome! all the people that are saying that they ruined pokemon, you need to lighten up and try different tactics and methods in the game :)

I've played since gen 1 and played though gen 2, skipped gen 3-5 but just got back into it and playing x and y now. I love it! Also I like the idea of Mega Evolutions, but tbh some(not all) of the designs were horrible. I honestly can't even look at Mega Gyarados and Alakazam because they are so bad. Whoever thought of the design for Gengar, Absol, Mewtwo Y, Blaziken, Houndoom and Lucario should get a raise!

Mega Evolutions are cool but I they were there to balance the game out but instead we get Pokemon like Mega Metagross, Mega Salamance, Mega Kang, and Mega Rayquaza; mega that are too cheap or powerful Pokemon even more power. I hope we get more Pokemon from the UU and NU side like the other starters, Arcanine, Flygon, Milotic, Kingdra, Toxicroak etc...
