***** I'm aware of that process, and that's what I was doing actually. I was just having a string of horrible luck. It was to the point where I had a male with 31/31/31/x/31/31, and a female with x/31/31/31/31/31 breeding together. I was hunting for a 31/31/x/31/31/31 charmander though, and was unsuccessful for 5 days (granted I only played about 1-2 hours each day, but still...). I have a backstock of 3 boxes full of 5IV charmanders but only one with the results I actually wanted, thanks to this tutorial.

This is mentioned in the smogon link in the description but I'll mention it here for you guys. This method (i.e. using the Magikarps) does *not* exactly work with mono-gendered (i.e. Kangaskhan, Hitmons) or genderless Pokemon (i.e. Beldum, Magnemite). It *can* work, but you need to modify the strategy. The game generates 2 IV inheritance spreads: one for dual-gendered pokemon (including the Nidorans and Volbeat/Illumise), and one for mono-gendered and genderless pokemon. To use this method for a perfect Mega Kang, you need to use this method: Find a random Kang and a random Ditto (or compatible equivalent). Using the Power Items, generate 6 eggs (one for each stat) to determine what IVs Ditto will pass down. Then use the Destiny Knot and Everstone and use this method as normal, using the same Ditto and same Kang instead of the Magikarps. For genderless Pokemon, Ditto is always the female and the other Pokemon is always the male. For gendered Pokemon (including mono-gender), Ditto is always the opposite gender.

Could you get me a 6iv kang ? Im trying my ass of but it wont work.... i got a 5iv and a bunch of 4s
@ShermTank727210 жыл бұрын
Even with this method, a 6IV pokemon is a pretty tall order. You really don't need a 6IV Kang; she's not usually a mixed attacker. If possible, try to get a 5IV kang missing a 31 Special Attack IV and you should be all set if you're using the standard set.

@ShermTank727210 жыл бұрын
MightyMike I'll help you, but this is gonna be a long post: First things first, go to the Friend Safari and catch a lot of Dittos. If you don't know anyone with a ditto safari, check the Reddit Friend Safari page. -Why these Dittos, you ask? Friend Safari pokemon are guaranteed to have at least 2 perfect IVs in their stats, which is essential for breeding a perfect IV pokemon *If you are using a dual-gendered Pokemon, a Nidoran, or Volbeat/Illumise, you can stop reading here and basically just follow the steps in this video* Next, once you have a Ditto with the desired nature (check Bulbapedia for a list of natures), breed it with your Kangaskhan, having the Ditto hold the Everstone and the Kangaskhan hold the Destiny Knot. Chances are, this baby will have 2-4 perfect IVs, but the important part is that you have the desired nature, as the Everstone passed down the nature of the Ditto to the baby Kangaskhan. Next, if you have any egg moves you want to pass onto the Kangaskhan, breed those onto the Kangaskhan, again making sure you have the Kangaskhan in the pairing always hold the Everstone. Now, to get your spread templates. I recommend writing this down like Justin does in this video or using an Excel spreadsheet. 1. First, pick a random Kangaskhan out of your box (not the Kangaskhan you just bred). In this example, I will refer to it as "Mama Kang". Mama Kang can be of any nature and with any random assortment of IVs. After making sure Mama Kang has 0 EVs (either use berries or the reset bag), put her in the Battle Institute and record the stats she has. These stats will be the stats that the Mother in the pair will pass down (Kangaskhan in this example, or Ditto when paired with a genderless Pokemon or a Pokemon whose species is male-only). Make sure to save right before you go in so that you can reset and not have to go through a lot of trainer battles. 2. Find a random Ditto. In this example, I will call it "Dad Ditto". Preferably, you want one that isn't from the Friend Safari so that you'll know when a 6th perfect IV is generated (if that doesn't make sense now it will soon). 3. This is the sorta tricky part. Give Mama Kang the Everstone so she passes down her nature, then breed Mama Kang with Dad Ditto six times, and each time, have Dad Ditto hold a different Power Item (i.e. Breed a Kangaskhan with Dad Ditto holding the Power Weight, pull him out of the daycare and give him the Power Lens, then put him back in, etc.). -The Power Items will guarantee that Ditto will pass down its IV for each Power Item's stat (i.e. the Power Lens will pass down Special Attack). -I strongly recommend doing these one at a time to keep things straight and/or labeling each hatched Kangaskhan with whatever stat it inherited from Dad Ditto. 4. Still with me here? Put each hatched Kangaskhan into the Battle Institute (you have to do this one at a time since duplicate Pokemon aren't allowed in there). For each Kangaskhan, write down its stat that it inherited from Dad Ditto (i.e. write down the Special Attack stat of the Kang that was bred when Dad Ditto was holding the Power Lens). These stats will be the stats that the Father in the pair will pass down (Ditto in this example, or the non-Ditto pokemon when paired with a genderless Pokemon or a Pokemon whose species is male-only). 5. If the Mother spreads and the Father spreads share a statistic, you should find a replacement pokemon (I recommend catching a replacement Mama Kang), and repeat the respective step. -Why? If the two pokemon are sharing an IV then you'll never be able to tell which parent passed on the stat to the child. There. Now your setup is complete. From here on out, just follow the instructions in the video, using Mama Kang and Dad Ditto instead of the two Magikarps. However, make sure Mama Kang is holding the Everstone when you're generating the spreads, otherwise the baby's nature might result in the stats not fitting into your inheritance spreads you just generated. Again, just want to reiterate that the method I just detailed only works with mono-gendered and genderless pokemon. For pokemon that can be dual-gendered (no matter the gender ratio), as well as Nidoran and Volbeat/Illumise, use the video above.

Two things: 1.) You've changed breeding for me! Now I can literally breed from any Pokemon I have already, as opposed to being limited to the ones with decent stats I had obtained through Wonder Trading or matching up Egg Groups. 2.) You really consider me a Master Breeder 😱🤓 Seriously though, this one of the greatest and most useful exploits I have run across ever in breeding! It's taken me years already, but you've opened every door now! It's a completely different way of breeding, because now I can MAKE my own Pokemon legitimately! I think I know why this might work... The destiny knot passes down 5 random IVs from the parents. If you "went back in time" those IVs would be set to occur next within the daycare. For when you're actually breeding do you need to have your pokemon you want to have perfect IVs and Ditto both have the same nature as well?
@plaguedoct0r10 жыл бұрын
PokemonMasterAlpha Nope. If a pokemon holds an everstone when it's in the daycare, all of the babies will have the exact same nature as it - without fail. The other parents nature doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't have an everstone too. If both parents have an everstone, the baby will have a 50% chance of getting either nature, but will never have a completely new nature.

I am getting so confused and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could you provide some insight?
@lukasblignaut10 жыл бұрын
of course the easier way to do all of this is to bring in a 6 IV ditto and a 6 IV pokemon of your choice using pokedit and then breed them until you have your own "legit" 6 IV pokemon. This reduces the generations from 2(if you get really lucky) - 4+(if you start out with 1 perfect IV per parent) down to 1 and you won't have to do any of the above running around a checking stats, just destiny knot + everstone + bike and breed until the rng shines favorably upon you because only 5 IVs are passed down and those are guaranteed to be perfect and the sixth is guaranteed to be random.

This method works for genderless as well, but you have to make sure your test parents are genderless as well (ie Rotom and a Ditto). This works for gender as well as long as your test parents have the same gender ratio of the mon you want. If it doesn't have the same gender % then the stats work but not the gender.

I think if you have the IVs set already, then all the pokemon you breed will have the same perfect IVs no matter how many times you reset. Only /after/ you get the IVs right you can try for the shiny. So no, after that reset, you should probably lose the shiny but not the Ivs.
@d0minican0milan011 жыл бұрын
I've come a long way since a week ago with this lol... Something to note that you should probably include in the description: If you are attempting this with pokemon that are genderless i.e Rotom, or monogender i.e Kangashkan Chansey ect...You can not use Magikarp as the test parents. Gender ratio affects the whole process, so in order to do this method with genderless or 100% male or 100% female pokemon you must use a test egg that will always be male, female, or genderless. So if you wanted to do this for say Kangashkan you could use Ditto and Flabebe as test parents instead of 2 Magikarps. One big piece of advice...if you are using two different species of pokemon as test parents use an IV checker to compare the stats. Hope this helps someone out! Again you can use 2 Magikarps for everything BUT genderless and monogender pokemon.

I have been doing some research of my own, & I have found out what to do if you have two or more wild cards on your Pokemon. First, check that the destiny knot is there. Then, remember how natures affect stats. It may be useful to check the nature BEFORE the battle, since you can't do it during it. As HP is not nature dependent, it is 100% your wildcard if it is different. If 2 others are skewed, it is the cause of the natures. I cant explain more than 3 stats skewed, other than a possible EV gain you didnt notice.

You can also use the teambuilder on Showdown to figure out a Pokemon's IVs by changing its level down to lv50 as it is in the game under the Battle Institute battle. Then when you check its stats in the game while you're in the battle, you change its IVs on Showdown until they fully match. Also make sure it has not been EV trained, and remember to set the same nature on it as it is in the game.

***** Yes I got that after a while, but this method requires a ditto safari, something that I and alot of people don't have. In my case, it would be faster to get a 5IV Lucario by breeding a female lucario with a male 5IV blaziken. Breeding is all about speed and efficiency. I got a 5IV Pokemon in every possible egg group. It's faster to breed within egg groups than it is to breed with a ditto like most people do.

if you go to the center of lumiose city go to the middle of the circular lane and get on your bike and stick a dime on the side of your swivel stick so it is pointing directly right it will let you go straight for as long as you want because of the changing directions in the middle of lumiose. while hitting left you can infinitely go in circles till the egg hatches. his way you have to actually be there turning the stick but you dont have to. then again his way is quick and he might not feel the need to stick a dime under the stick and let it go for a few minutes. if u breed in mass like me its helpful though

The first time I did this, it worked fine. Now, I'm having trouble. I have 2 untrained magikarp, I checked their stats @ 50, i put them in to breed. I discard the first egg. I save. I hatch the second egg. This time I got unknown on Defense, Sp Att and Speed. I'm thinking it can pick the same stat twice, each from the mom and dad. This would explain why so many people are having a wide variety of results. Example: Picks female HP, then overwrites it w/ male (Thats 2 from the Destiny Knot) Then male Att, then overwrites it w/ female (2 more) Then finally picks male Sp Def. That leaves 3 stats that didn't get passed ( 2 because they got duplicated, and one will always be random because destiny knot only transfers 5).
@rrrandy11 жыл бұрын
Hopefully i understand the process, So, you are suposed to go battle place, write down both stats of your male and female you are going to breed Then from there breed the 2 pokemon, take the egg, hatch the egg, and then go back to battle place with the newborn and check the baby's stats and from there u check which stats are the same from the parents. ex: the baby had HP, ATK, SPEED from dad and SP.ATT, SP.DEF, DEF, from mom from there u restart your game and now you know which stats the egg that comes out of the daycare will pass down
@jibbyjackjoe11 жыл бұрын
That is the gist of it. Here are some more tips. 1) Make sure you write down the stats of 2 pokemon that are the same species and will breed and yield the same. Don't use Pikachu cuz your baby will be a pichu. 2) If you use Magikarp, understand that the only Ability you will get will be the first one. Magikarp only has one ability, so the first one is the only one it can pass (i haven't tried this using hidden ability pokes yet). 3) If you need to have the other ability, I'm using Zigzagoon because it seems to be the lowest hatch rate of pokes w/ 2 abilities (again, not hidden abilities). 4) I'm having a really hard time using this method with genderless pokemon. The bronzor's I'm currently breeding aren't following this pattern at all (I'm assuming the bronzor will be the female, and the ditto will be the male). The Male (ditto) stats are coming across, but the Bronzor (female) stats aren't. 5) after you get a couple with 4 perfect IVs, and they don't all overlap, just put them both in and hatch about 10 of them. You should end up w/ a 5 IV one soon. 6) introduce egg moves at the end of your breeding.
@Reddyedwolf11 жыл бұрын
Ok this actually explain a lot. I just did this and I only had two transfer over HP and Atk (dunno how that's possible, if what you were saying is that there should in theory be three if it doubles up on stats)
@jibbyjackjoe11 жыл бұрын
A lot of this was trial and error, especially beyond 2 IVs. The destiny knot is a cool tool. I would use this method to get a couple pokes up to 3 or 4 IVs, but I would use regular breeding after that, using my good but opposite IVs or filling in the gaps with iv dittos. I may write a guide. Breeding gender less pokemon has proven to not work too well. Can't get a handle on the pattern. Seems like the ditto acts as the male, but the other poke doesn't always act as the female. Maybe.
@Reddyedwolf11 жыл бұрын
I just destiny knotted and only one passed down. This is so frustrating. All of my friends are getting great results. I'm going to come up a way to make this work somehow.
@MrKillzy10 жыл бұрын
Interesting method. However, it's effectiveness isn't really that great if you don't have any pokemon with perfect IV's to begin with, so for those of you that are just starting out, you're probably going to need to get some friend codes and visit a pokemon safari. As I've experienced, pokemon caught in the friend safari are guaranteed to have at least 2 perfect IV's. You may be limited to your friend's pokemon in their safari, but it's a start. You just need to learn how to chain your breeding into different egg groups in order to gain the IV's you want on any pokemon in the same egg group.
@marleneupton931410 жыл бұрын
From my own practice, I've learned that it does not matter if they have beneficial natures. If you were wondering why the baby magikarp has several Wildcards, you should deny the first three eggs (in my opinion). Also, if you were wondering why natures don't always carry over, even if you give the pokemon an everstone, it's because (if I'm not mistaken), there's a 50% chance of it passing down that parents nature.

Hello, Do you know something about abilities? I can have a Chespin with 5VI, but it always has Overgrow (I restted 5 times)

evillgouki I read that if the female has a hidden ability, there's a 60% it will be passed down. But if you just have a regular Chespin that has overgrow, there's no chance it will pass down a hidden ability. Again, I could be wrong, but I believe I am correct in this.

Marlene Upton No youre right, if you put a female wich have a hidden ability with a male, there is actually 60% chance. THIS IS A QUICK WRITTEN GUIDE OF THE METHOD SHOWN PREPERATION: Get Flawless Dittos (Safari - go look it up) 2 Magikarps (Male+Female) Fletchinder Flamebody bird teach Fly Know how to reset (L+R+Start+Select) Know the Battle institute (Luminose) Know the Daycare (Left of Camphire Town) Accept that an eggs stats passed down are pre-determined so this works! PROCESS: Take 2 Magikarp (Male+Female) Go to Battle insitute SAVE BEFORE BATTLE Battle (Note stats@ level 50)+RESET Repeat for each Magikarp (Noting stats down of each at level 50) Attach destiny knot to Female Attach Everstone to Male Put in Daycare Decline egg #1+SAVE Accept egg #2+Hatch Go to Battle institute with Hatched Pokemon SAVE BEFORE BATTLE Battle noting passed stats to the Hatched Pokemon at level 50 5 stats from parents will be passed down note which parent (1 stat is wild) RESET GAME IF Stats passed bad: (Under 3 desired stats from 1 Parent) Reject egg #2+SAVE Accept egg #3+Hatch etc... IF Stats passed good: Use flawless Ditto with the desired stats Use Pokemon with desired Nature (Must be opposite Gender to stats passing down) Ditto with Destiny knot Pokemon with Everstone for Nature Those stats will be passed on That Nature will be passed on RESULT: Enjoy your 3 (Maybe even 4 if you're lucky) Flawless stat Pokemon! Repeat process to hatch another Pokemon Hope this helps with making a better team! Give it a thumbs up so people can see!

EVERYBODY USING THIS METHOD, READ THIS COMMENT! There is one very very very very very very very very very very very very very very important thing that the man in the video forgot to mention. All Magikarps used for breeding MUST be Hardy, Docile, Serious, Bashful, or Quirky. Also, one of the Magikarps must be holding an everstone and the other one, of course, must hold the destiny knot. Here is the reasoning behind this; if the Magikarp that is hatched from the egg from the two Magikarps has a nature that is not neutral, You will have THREE wild card statistics, rather than only one. This is because the 10% stat increase and decrease will change what the stat is from the two pokémon and you will not be able to tell if the iv was passed or not. I hope this makes sense. (edit): sorry, the natures do not necessarily need to be neutral, they just need to be the same for the mother Magikarp, the father Magikarp, and the child Magikarp.
@jeyre8010 жыл бұрын
I think it might be important to point out, that if after you check the stats of your Magikarp, and then you reset, if the Pokémon you are trying to breed with are a Ditto, and a genderless Pokémon, the Ditto will always pass down the female Magikarp stats, and the genderless Pokémon will always pass down the male Magikarp stats.

hey guys! im using the method justin explained on this video, and i have a question: are ivs,gender,nature,and hidden ability passing or not things that are set when you reject the egg? or only the ivs? I mean if i test my parents and get the desired iv spread, reset and put my good parents in day care, accept and hatch egg and got the desired iv spread on the just born pokemon but with wrong ability or gender...could i just reset and hope that the right ability and gender passes down this time again? Thank you
@PengyGoy11 жыл бұрын
Only one stat was passed down. I was 100% sure I did everything right, and then I read the description. Neither of my magikarp have hardy, docile, serious, bashful, or quirky natures, so would that be the reason it didn't work for me? If that is the case, MAKE SURE EVERYONE THAT YOUR MAGIKARP HAVE THOSE NATURES.

EVERYBODY, PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS GUY!
@Mastermind12228811 жыл бұрын
He doesn't say this in the tutorial, but if you switch the two magikarps out for pokemon that have a different gender ratio, your seed will reset. For example, if you are using pokemon like Blaziken or Eevee, which have a 7:1 male to female ratio, you'll get a different spread of IVs from using the 1:1 gender ratio magikarps. The same applies to genderless and gender exclusive pokemon.

It seems to be that many peopIe are simpIy copying the video step by step. everyone is forgetting about how natures effect pokemon stats. For this to work you need both your maIe and femaIe magikarp to have natures which don't effect their stats (Hardy,DociIe,Serious,BashfuI,Quirky)
@thejustinflynn11 жыл бұрын
this is a great idea! if you're having trouble following the video. otherwise you need an everstone on the one with the effected stats.

Its also annoying when the parent magickarps have the same exact stats in a specific stat. The chances are low but i happened 3 times to me. If both magickarps have like 40 att at lvl 50 then you cant tell from which parent the iv is passed down from.
@paddicusmaximus11 жыл бұрын
Ya'll are over complicating this. I hope people see this. I highly recommend using natures to pass this down. Using this method, nature, ability (hidden can be passed too), IVs passed per parent, and the random IV are all set BEFORE you even get the egg. All you need is a decent IV calculator, or 3 mons that have perfect IVs in different stats. For example, I have a 3 IV ditto (HP ATK DEF) and a 3 iv froakie (SPATK SPDF SPD) but I know exactly what gets passed down and it yields great results. Simply replace the parents with pokes (doesn't always work with genderless) that yield the IVs you want to pass and its done.
@chrissnider586411 жыл бұрын
Guys, if you are still having trouble with your magicarps do what it says above and put everstone on one and destiny knot on the other. Then the most complicated thing you have to worry about is the IVs lining up just right, which can take all of forever if you're trying to get a specific one, but this does work and after many long hours in which my eyes nearly burned out I have a nice 5 IV Snorlax :)

this isn't that confusing unless you're new to pkmn in general or don't know about breeding. this is more time consuming than anything, because you'd need to find the perfect egg shelled by the magikarps before being able to breed any other pkmn.

Yep, got it on my first try using Electrike. The child Magikarp was Timid with 5 IVs inherited from its father (S.Def was the wild card). Replaced the father Karp with a 6IV Ditto and the mother Karp with a female Electrike, and look at that: a 5IV Timid Electrike was the child. Needless to say this will save me a metric @#%&ton of time during HP Breeding. The length of this video had me nervous, but it definitely works. Owe you one.
@psovegeta10 жыл бұрын
Though it's pretty nifty to know exactly what stats are going to be passed on. It may be pretty useful when you start breeding but it may be problematic later on if your going for 5 perfect IVs., I usually replace the old parent with a new parent when I see the IVs are better. I try to get my parent pokemon to have at least 3 perfect IVs each before I start expecting the will crank out the golden child. Then I save the parents in case I need to breed another one later. When you have parents that make perfect pokemon. Breeding is even easier. It really helps if you can catch your wild pokemon in the friend safari first.

So, if you hatched the Magikarp (the one to check which traits got passed down), and it was shiny, since everything in that egg is pre-determined, could you soft-reset, put your preferred Pokemon in the daycare in replace of the Magikarps, and get a guaranteed shiny from that egg? Or does shininess work differently than that?
@URaverageActor10 жыл бұрын
Ok explain. You can find out what stats will be passed on from the genders of ANY Pokemon using magikarp? So no matter the Pokemon, those stats that u wrote down that were passed from the male and female magikarp will be passed for say, a Chimchar? Am I getting this right?
@TheRealKarmaquarius10 жыл бұрын
If the mother has a perfect speed, and the father has a perfect attack, the child has a % chance to obtain both, then breed the child with a pokemon with another stat you want, repeat.

So theoretically, if you have a ditto with 5 Perfect IV's in Hp/Atk/Def/Sp.A/Spe you could make any Pokemon have perfect IV's if your test hatch gave all the stats from one of the two parents? That's so sick! :D Thank you so much for the guide.

after figuring out the statistics of that specific egg can i repeatively reset until i get a shiny with the desired statistics? or is it that the egg already determines whether the egg will be shiny or not? sorry if my question is a bit confusing ._.

There is another way to get a destiny knot. You have to find this women in lumnoise city. who will talk about this guy she met, but he has left her. Then she will ask you if you know that pain. then click yes. After you won the battle. She will give you a destiny knot before she goes to another location in the city. She will be in one of the allyes.

Awesome and great tutorial, but one quick question though. When doing the Time Machine Method, is the gender and the ability of the offspring already determined before receiving the egg? Since there are some Pokemon I want to IV breed, while having their hidden abilities. Also, how about breeding genderless pokemon. For example, if I'm breeding a metagross with a ditto, who takes the role of male or female parent?
@luketama111 жыл бұрын

It's faster and easier to use the pokemon's markings to indicate which stats they have perfect IVs in, rather than renaming them.
