Correct me if I’m wrong but the match up was heavily against Yuta no? nothing to abuse trick room slower than Luca’s Iron Hands, no intimidate Pokémon on Luca’s side to make use of Yuta’s Caly’s item, electric terrain so no spores from Amoonguss. ​@wastedninjadude The choice scarf Lando and Speed Booster Iron Valiant spells big problems for Miraidon no matter the Tera since both outspeed. Iron Hands and Calyrex Ice have around the same base stat at 50. Which means either Iron Hands won the speed tie, or Luca negative EV'd Hands speed to just outspeed Ice Rider in trick room. Yuta would have no way of guessing that so it was a toss up heading into the match. Yuta actually had the advantage. In game one, had he sandsear stormed, he would of gotten significant damage onto both the urshifu and the Irons that came in. Iron Valiant could of attacked Urshifu and the game would instantly been over. Yuta had all the matchup capabilities into Luca's team. He just made bad reads and Luca took advantage.

Ogerpon easily OHKO's the Pelipper afterwards but would've been neater ig Also even if the Ogerpon died to Spirit Break by absolute magic, the Miraidon 1v1s the Pelipper even with Tera Grass (easily 2HKO's with the resisted hit and survives any hit IF it doesn't just OHKO the resist, which is very possible too) so the game was essentially checkmated by then.

Nothing pleases me more than seeing Ice Rider Calyrex able to do absolutely nothing in two of the matches. Iron Valiant was also really underwhelming here, mostly cuz of Ogrepon redirect but still

It's crazy cause Ice Rider looks really good vs. Luca's team with it being two Grass types and two Electric types (With Ice Rider carry High Horsepower). Electric Terrain is the real MVP here stopping Amoongus from using Spore entirely. Had Amoongus has Spore as an option this game it would've been very hard for Luca to win. Without it though it seems like a poor bring but at the same time the rest of the team isn't great in Trick Room and Amoongus still offers redirection. Just seems like he was pinned in to bringing an Amoongus that was less than 50% as useful as it normally would be due to Ice Rider wanting Trick Room up. Maybe if he started out fast pace with a mix of Landorus/Valiant/Urshifu and then closed the game with Ice Rider it might've worked out better but even then it's tough.

​@@Cardb33 yea it seems doomed from the very beginning. The supposedly Mirai "counter", the Iron Valiant, doesn't perform so great with Ogrepon redirection in the opposing team

@@shirohiruka Yeah watching this match over as good as Ice Rider looks, Luca's team has a much better matchup. I can't see a lead combination from Yuta that would've put him at an advantage right from the get go. Iron Hands being faster than Ice Rider under Trick Room is the icing on the cake. Just seems like an uphill battle and surprised Yuta was able to take a game at all. Landorus is the only Pokemon outside of Trick Room that really shines in this match and it was killed even AFTER Tera by Urshifu's Surging Strikes. I've been trying to analyze the match and still fail to see a way Yuta could've pulled it out barring some serious misplays from Luca which wasn't going to happen he's a great player and made it this far for a reason. Trick Room Ice Rider + Amoongus looks bad for Luca and it is but it's not enough to overcome Electric Terrain, redirection and the other tools Luca had.
