Pokemon Unite Matchmaking has been a problem ever since the game launched.
In season 4 the Devs has not reseted the MMR causing good players to have a harder time Climbing rank, now in season 14 the same problem arose

Well yes, the game was always like this since I started playing since I started playing. I played since late May of 2022, so yeah, its always the veteran, ultra, and master classes that were making me get those big loss streaks.

Two other factors that skews matches are: Meta abusing: if you have a high mmr and refuse to constantly play overtuned charaters such as Mewtwo y, you are more likely to encounter high mmr tryhards carried by their broken characters. Duo/Trio queue: as shown in the video the system does not bother if all players are equally skilled, this means that your duos/trios are more likely to be outclassed by the enemie's and since premade teams are more coordinated they have a huge advantage. These two factors can also mix together, creating queues where you most likely have a duo with lane greninja/cinderace and opposing duos with blissey/Mewtwo y.

This helps explain why I had a winning streak as glaceon last time I played ranked then got hit with a massive losing streak… guess I’ll just throw every few games to reset the MMR so I don’t get paired with complete noobs /j

I appreciate that the video progression is slow enough to really enable me to think about and organize thoughts in my head before moving onto the next concept, even if I get scrambled >w< Do you know if wins/losses in game modes that don't affect your Total Battles count, such as Solo Mode and Panic Parade, still increase or can reset your win streak when it comes to MMR calculation?

Yes, this season was atrocious for me. Previous season I reached Masters with around a 63% win rate, and at the end of the season it went down to 60%. This season I started my journey at negative win rate (38-43%) and ended up at 52% when I reached Masters. I'm slowly floating back up to 56% again, closer to my all-time average of 57%. But teammates when I was below Masters was just atrocious for me. They were very much lacking in macro understanding of the game. Between that and Mewtwo Y, I am just burned out from this game for the time being.

Yeah im guessing the game put you with low-level skilled players ( MMR wise according to the system) over and over until your MMR lowered enough to put you with other players, that is my theory

These last couple seasons have honestly made me wonder if I’m actually good at the game or not. It’s just all the losses that keep getting thrown in my face because of stupid teammates the game honestly made me think I belong with them

This seasons matchmaking is just…. Yuck. I’ve been helping a friend and they’ve been in and out of ultra like 4 times these past 3 days. We will have like 1-2 okay matches and then an abundance of terrible matches with players who clearly don’t understand the game at all.

I've had this issue I think, my mmr is tanking because I keep getting bad teammates because my mmr is tanking, as a game design student this is kinda disgusting to see this infinite downward spiral where losing causes you to lose more

throwing the match doesnt come back or troll the match which is very frustrating in rank most likely. Also its becoming worst and worst everytime in the match you pair w/ that I noticed the person that doesnt come back when I press surrender like I don't get these people at all.

They could just make it so you are matchmade with 9 players that have kind of same mmr like you. So the total won't be unbalanced as well, TiMi is just lazy.

Why wouldn't they use the average MMR per player instead of a total

Unfortunately, I'm not sure why Unite would do it this way, Unite has been making weird decisions ever since then like refusing to add draft in rank

I believe the problem wouldn't go away if it were one over the other. As average is just the total divided a constant number 5 (players).

If you had a higher Winrate last season there is a chance most of your games now in season14 are making you Carry your teammates , that is my theory
