@groundup0013 жыл бұрын
@@gandhiindia1685 true. But there’s definitely a balance. Not saying it applies here but a lot of players play scared and because of checking back scare cards or folding good hands, they miss more out on value than they would’ve won than if they just played ABC and expect that sometimes you get coolered. Daniel’s reasoning makes perfect sense here but I really doubt most live players would have the same reasoning instead of just “I’m worried about a full house on a paired board”

@@richardkent9275 There's more to the game than stats. Chans style of play doesn't see him bluff at the turn.. it's always solid. Daniel knows this and at the turn puts him on trips.. or A4 for a straight as well [but probably not since he holds 4-4's], two-pair of A2,3 or 5.. and now a rug-yanking A. He knows Chan's solid play and this bet say's, out of the 6 ways to make a boat.. he made one of them.

Johnny didnt make any high class read here. He flopped top pair, got double pair on the turn and a full house on the river. He got very unlucky on the turn and super lucky with the river. The class play here is clearly Daniels fold.

Probably someone made this comment already but I can't stop myself mentioning the movie Rounders 1998. Not only Jonny Chan features inspirationally in this movie but also Daniel looks and sounds so much like the character of Edward Norton, the Worm. Beside Jonny Chan here Daniel reminds me a lot of the Worm. The only difference between Daniel and the Worm is the decision making as Daniel actually plays extremely wise, more like the Matt Damon's character. Nice video!

Four things are interesting about this hand. Negreanu reads Chan wrong, as he cant see him acting that way with A5 off suit, he does not seem to calculate that A5 same suit is a possibility. Negreanu trys to get Chan to give him a lifeline by showing a card, (a weak request, that said, if you dont ask....). Negreanu works it out, its got to be a full house, it cant be against pocket aces. Fourth, and most importantly in my view, which could easily be lost, is that Chan, at the death read what Negreanu had quite briliantly,

The thought process Daniel went through was quite impressive, but don't be misled. @marc61575 жыл бұрын
I think another logical and obvious reason why it made sense to fold is that there was four to a straight on the board and Johnny is good enough to know that Daniel can easily have pockets fours or some kind of four in his range. Which means he wouldn’t be doing that with ace king or just any ace. So that only leaves full houses that he would be betting for value in that spot where he knows he’s beating straights.

When Johnny calls the 5k on the turn, you can be ASSURED he has two-pair or a set. He's not just lighting 5,000$ on fire with A-K. Essentially, If Johnny invests 5k, with a 1-liner to a straight on board, you can bet your VERY SOUL Johnny has a chance for a full-house. Furthermore, I think Johnny should have CHECKED the river. His lead, basically, turned his hand FACE-UP.....If he checked the river, and you checked behind him, now THAT would have been impressive. Frankly, it probably would have been one of the most impressive check-downs of ALL-TIME, but sadly we'll never know :(

It's an AWESOME fold! I'd think someone like Chan would have the stone cold nuts or be continuation betting on a bluff, and a 'good price' on the river pretty much tells you he's nutted.I think the only REAL question is: is it a bluff that turned into trips, and he doesn't put you on the straight, really. That's why i LOVE this game!
@moneyhoney85984 жыл бұрын
This looks so easy while getting to know/see both player's hand on screen here. But at the table, every player would have called that, no matter what! But then again, I can easily make money off of loose aggressive players in 1/.5 games, and off of them and tight passive players in 2/1 - 5/2. But it’s not as fun playing them because I have to play less hands. You can’t read players in this way unless they are very good.
