Again, the most important tips from Mr. Sweeney! 👍 One very important lesson, I personally learned, that I may add perhaps is that I only play when I'm sober. I mean, I'm only sober now anyway, but that wasn't always the case. And I paid for that.....

Fantastic video as usual, thank you. I actually just bought your Poker Odds book from Amazon and I'll be receiving it tomorrow. I'm looking forward to diving in and really getting to grips with poker maths. 👌

I'm casual & only bring 2 buy-ins to a session. If I lose both, I bail, not my day. Been watching for years now & love your content! Happy Grinding sir! 😁

I currently live in Cambodia and cost of living here is very low, rent and food will cost me about 1000$ to 1200$ per month. What would be a reasonable Pro bankroll in live cash games in these conditions?
@ThePokerBank
@ThePokerBank 11 ай бұрын
What stake do you currently play? What is the highest reasonable stake you have consistent access to? If you need to ripcord out of poker, how easy is it to get employment that covers your monthly cost of living?

@@ThePokerBank I play 1/3 and buy in for 300$ the max buy in is 500$ i have no other income, if i lose my bankroll i got to go back to my home country and start working again as a long haul trucker, its a good salary so i can save money pretty quickly and come back to cambodia and start playing again

$20K would give multiple months of living expenses and a solid bankroll at $1/$3 since it doesn't sound like you have a family to provide for

So a 1/2 game of live poker with a 300 max buy in needs a 60,000 dollar bankroll. This explains why some people at the table seem fearless while others hold on to the rail like they are riding a roller coaster.

When you have zero other income streams and rent/life comes out of the bankroll...why is that unreasonable? Unless your COL is super low...in which case...that can be trimmed down quite a bit of course.

It's bad. My AA 4 bet all in vs his K9 call, he hits a boat on runout. And my 4 bet call all in with QQ vs a diff guys AA. Lost,can't play for a couple months.I need to review this.Ty.

You're proving the point. Not saying this is you, but if those variance losses eat you up, you need a much bigger bankroll and more patience & experience. I'm only 1/2 rec still, but am finally able to not get too mad when I get in in best. I reload against the fish and do it again no sweat with the advantage while my chips make friends and recruit the others across the table 😄

Build a roll. Keep getting in good spots. Eventually luck runs out and percentages are percentages. Keep getting your money in 60% or higher consistently. The rest will fall into place.

Which leaves you months of living costs + liquid bankroll + bankroll padding. Why is this unreasonable?

200 buy ins for cash and 1000 buyins for tournaments. This is the opposite of gambling. Noone has that many buy ins at the current stake they play! It would be too boring and it means you are scared and not shot taking. You really only need about 20 buyins cash. I have played pro for a long time and have never needed more then 12 buy ins. So 20 is extra insurance. This advice is for live poker.
@MrNicePotato
@MrNicePotato Жыл бұрын
I agree. I would be too frustrated to continue playing way before I’m 200 buy ins down. I just accept defeat if I’m 20 buy ins down. I am the fish at that point.

@ThePokerBank
@ThePokerBank Жыл бұрын
@@gittigeier87 Correct, and there is a difference between being a pro (sole-income stream) vs. non-pro. Non-pros should take shots way more often, and the 15/2 framework I mentioned/linked to at the end of this video is very usable.
