I'm a profitable player, but these videos are super helpful. I've been thinking lately how I need to throw in more overbets for bluffs and value to bring my game to the next level. I've been realizing lately that I have been missing out on a lot of bluffing spots and a lot of value.

in this video it seems like a good strategy is to go 1/3 to 1/2 pot if we're OOP heads up post-flop. However, in the out of position video, it seemed like we should just check if we're OOP and let them do the stabbing. I'm curious how you decide which strategy you decide to use.

at the lowest stakes a lot of players like to check call OOP with their made flushes on turns and such. make sure you take in to account the player type on each street as well
@hungryhorsepoker9 ай бұрын
from everything i’ve seen this just isn’t true. we have players we coach playing in every major poker market across north america - low stakes to high stakes. if you bet small on the turn, players frequently either xr their flushes or donk the river. poker is poker is poker. low stakes isn’t some special twilight zone.

Any content coming up on how to play dry flops? As they don't raise nearly enough of their strong shit VS half Pot bets on dry / paired boards (And opponents trap more on 3 to straight/flush boards aswell)
@JeffreySheridan-i1n3 ай бұрын
on super static boards, where the nuts won't change very often ie paired boards, monotone, super dry A72 rainbow, he will generally chose a big bet and check strategy. He has talked about it in a lot of his other videos, and in his live vlogs, but I am not sure which ones exactly.

So heres the thing if an opponent is donking into me and i have the flush im probly just gonna call and let them bet again so i can get maximum value from my reraise on the river. Idk if this is common but it does make me feel like a pure call doesnt rule out the flush
@MinKim-cv9ee4 ай бұрын
9:00 i thoguht value small to induce a call, bluff big to get him to fold?
@miketang87193 ай бұрын
Nah he just means if you think this guy would fold to a big bet IF you had a bluff type hand then you should bet small. And vice versa if you think they would call big IF you had a bluff hand then since you have a good hand you should bet big.
@dingaonhockey3 ай бұрын
@@miketang8719I think he got confused with the second example. Where the flush misses. He bluffs small because AJ isn't folding to a large bet. So with your bluff you want to go small to fold out weaker holdings than AJ that still beat your 7 high. Like Q high, A high draws that missed or middle/bottom pair. Top pair isn't folding to any bet size there so you bluff small to target those weaker holdings.

I notice against a half pot size bet (which is perceived pretty strong, compared to 1/3), they still slowplay their strong stuff like sets a ton, expecting you to barrel off.

What do you mean exactly when youre talking about them being capped?
@Liszt_1811Ай бұрын
for example if someone 3bet you and checks on Kh 8s 9s desk, he was capped for kings(he's range has less kings because would bet for defence on draw desk). Or he has weak kings , so he deesnt want to increase bank.

You seem to bluff with no equity if they are capped on turn. If uncapped, do you give up or check when IP?
@hungryhorsepoker5 ай бұрын
the more equity we have in our hand, the less fold equity we need. the more fold equity we have, the less equity in our hand we need. if they’re completely capped, i like to go crazy with lots of ool bluffs. if they are uncapped, i don’t give up with air but i tend not to use the balls to the wall sizes and target weaker portions of their range id like to fold. check out the rivers video for more concrete examples.

I really like your content. But one thing I noticed that probably isn't correct, or at least not correctly communicated to help out players: "the best bluffs are the ones you get villain to call two streets and then folding the river". Sure you win a lot the times the board runs out nicely and they fold OTR, but every time they call OTF and/or OTT you lose money vs if they folded right away. The potential "profitable" barrels you make OTT & OTR are mostly just bets that are higher EV than giving up which means you are just fighting for fractions of the pot every additional bet you make, which obviously is correct. I'm sure you know this but just a clarification. You can make a toygame and calculate how much fold equity you actually need OTR to make the triple more profitable vs villain folding OTF. It's a lot

Regarding stack depth, betting smaller on the turn with the 999. What’s to stop the converse versus a good player who will over raise with a made flush or semi bluff with the nut card and top pair stopping us from realizing our equity? Is there a situation where we cannot realize our equity? Let’s say the person knows we have 10 outs and a set, makes the flush, jams on our set; is it correct to call it off with 20% equity? Seems the determination regarding their hand strength comes from our bet and their raise. If we check the made flush card, give up the betting lead, and call their bet-then what are they putting us on? Will they bet the river with the flush, and a bluff too?

Most of this is pretty good but I disagree strongly with the idea of having different value bet sizes versus Bluff sizes it's supposed to be polarized you're supposed to be mixing your Bluffs and your strong value with the same bet size an observant opponent will eat you alive on the river if you aren't polarizing your bluffs/value.

I don't like the way you explained the river concept. To me, if you are trying to determine what to do with your hand, and you ask "What am I doing with the inverse?" that means you are doing the SAME as the inverse, not the opposite. It appears you are instead asking "Do I want to get all (or a good chunk of) my money in with THIS hand?" and if you are making the decision this way, your bets will be easy to pick off. The opponent just needs to determine which situation he's in: "What does hero think is the top of my range?" and "Do I have a lot of air?"
