I like the breakdown here to the point where he uses the analogy of 10 times having a 6 and 10 times having a flush draw. There is no way villain has a 6 half the time compared to flush draws. We could make a more accurate assessment of villains range and combinations of 6x by knowing their VPiP. Lets assume that because this is a cash game and villain calls a raise from UTG+2 that their range is at least slightly capped to include less combinations of 6x and more flush draws. To call a raise from UTG+2 there really shouldn't be any combinations of 6s in villains range, except a loose call with 1 combo of 66 or 4 combos of suited 67. There is a chance villain also comes along with 4 combinations of A6 suited and K6 suited, however this would be a terrible call against the perceived range of the SB after raising pre-flop because villain is so often dominated. Because there are many more combinations of flush draws in this scenario (and ones that do not include overcards) this would sway the equity more into heros favor. A very obvious call. I like heros weak donk bet on the flop. It gets value on villain's 77-99 and induces a check raise with flush draws to get fold equity.

Good points, but Bart never said that he thinks its 1:1 flush draws and sixes. It's basically a "worst case" scenarios and it's still a call. So it is a snap call in reality. That's what Bart says later too

Late to the party but this video is a great reminder that not everyone is playing the same level. I'm a micro fish online and a small stakes semi reg?? live. I seem to at least double my poker knowledge about every 3 months and I have a long way to go but....I would guess at least 75% of online and 50% of live players not only don't know what equity is but many don't even count outs and have any idea about pot odds etc....this is truly maddening online but God bless those folks! For me the key is discerning between the guys whose brain displays pio (Bart) and the guy playing 10 6 off because it's his lucky hand...anyway thanks for the lesson!

Against nut flush draw equity i think i did understood, he has 9h + 3Aces, so 12 outs/from about 30 cards remaining, so 40%.with no nut flush he has just 9/30 = 30%. Is this rigth? What i do not understood, why around 10% vs. a 6. Why did Bard make 2 times 4=8, so almost 10%. For what is the 2(probably Q) and the 4?

realy love your lessons. they are priceless. Although i have a serious question on calculating the odds. Where to calculate them??? Lets say i have a good hand...and when opponent bets i can see i have more hands in his range of hands he plays,where i win. Lets say 60% of the hands he could play,i wins vs 40% where i lose. should i apply odds with this information??? Or If we assume he has a better hand i can calculate the propabillities for me in order i have the better hand the next round (turn or river) and lets say my hand get better with 20% propabillity. I cant understand where should i pay attention in order to have +EV on my bet. In the hand i have now or in the hand i will have on turn or river?

Well, it's not impossible for a weaker player to play trips like this but it's much more likely he/she will minraise you rather than go allin. By going allin he wants folds hoping you missed the flop. So I think this was an easy call.

Hi. Can you please explain for me, on that example, how to make decision: 5-10 live game. Bu raise 30$, hero call sb 22, bb raise 80$, bu call, hero call. Flop: 2jt. Ch, bet 80, bu call, hero call. Turn: 7s. Ch, ch, bu bet 120, hero raise 500$, bb all in 500$, bu raise all in 1700$. Now I have to add 1200$. In pot: 500$ size pot on turn + 500$ bb all in + 500$ my bet + 1700$ all in from bu = 3200$. So what is my pot odds here? Total pot if I call will be 4400$. My pot odds 4400/1200? 3.66 to 1? Or 3200/1200? 2.66 to 1? If my pot odds 3.66 to 1, then how much equity I have to have vs range? 1/3.66? 27%? If my pot odds 2.66 to 1, then how much equity I have to have vs range? 1/2.66? 38%? i understood perfectly but how to do when he have for example more bluff combos than value here is 10 combos against ten but what if it was 20 combos against 10 with the same equity for example 20 bluffs combos where i have 40% and 10 where i have 10% i guess the equity is no more the average of the two so how to do

not sure, but if he considers that even in the worst case scenario, it's a call, then it's always a call. But if we're talking why he estimates it's 50/50, first it's a rough estimation, and i think it's once again a matter of worst case scenario. if you have a set of 6 here, you will sometimes just call and expect a second barrel ro raise allin, depending on the profile. on this flop, raising allin with a set will make a lot of hands fold, which we don't really want, so we wont do it sometime. Meaning that on some occasions, sometimes 2 out of 3 times (66%) , sometimes 1 out of 2 times (50%), sometimes 1 out of 3 times (33%), you'll actually face a 6. And an average of those percentages makes it ROUGHLY 50%.

Hey Bart! I recently got a college project to analyse three famous hands (Tsang v Koon, Koon v Kalas, Ivey v Dwan straight v straight). I have to use holdem manager 2 and explore ranges and expected value but I really don't know the software and how to approach the project. Yes.. If you want to do it an easy way flush draw is 9 outs x 4 (to see two cards to the river) or 36%. SO hero is 64% to win vs a flush draw. If guy has a 6 Hero has about 10% equity. So if the opponent had equal amounts of flush draws to 6s, the math would be ( 64+10) / 2 = equity in the hand or in this case 37%. --Bart
