As a full time day trader, it’s fascinating to see how the tools used for performance improvement in poker translate well to the trading world. Really cool stuff and nice video

I am going thru a downswing right now, It is weird because I find myself, opening a lot with top of my range get 3 or 4 callers I either miss flop completely or when I hit, one of my opponents get me drowning almost dead. When I hit strong hands my opponents either fold and I win a small pot or they continue with draws and hit every single time. However when I am the one drawing I don’t get there. I understand variance but it is getting so annoying, I am finding myself down $300-500 in 2 hrs of play… tonight I just loss KKs against A2s and I just got off the table because it is starting to affect me. So I believe the best I can do is take some time off and come back to play once my head is clear.

40 tournaments without a cash is precisely why you need 100-200 buy ins in your bankroll to withstand a bad run of variance. its par for the course once the sample size gets large enough and you're playing to win. not just playing to min cash.

Do you recommend going home for the day if you get bad beat 3 times in a short session? 1 and 2 outer bad beats. That's when I get tilted regardless of how calm I am.

But john, how do you keep in a positive mind set and still have confidence in playing running really horrible, I use a poker tournament tracker for my results and it's been like 27 straight tourneys of not cashing. Live not online. I just keep losing the all ins when ahead, i've even taken some time off to recoup my thought process and study, still having the bad turnouts, how do you put a stop to the bleeding. Just last night as it's still fresh, 55k with 8k bb, I had AJd , I know its a jam but I raised to 18k, 2 players left behind, I get 1 with 70k that jams and I call, he had pk 10's which is fine, me jamming wouldn't of changed the outcome, so I flop 2 pair, turn was a 10. I know I don't have a ton of tournaments for the year but when you see the same results when you get it in good and mostly ahead, I just can't get over the unlucky part that i'm seeing. So this does mess with your confidence or at least mine where it's like pulling teeth just to hold up. I'm trying to stay real positive and love playing poker but it's starting to get to me. I've actually cashed more back when I didn't understand the game as much as i've been playing more and studying more, that bothers me even more.. Ah just venting, hope some good feedback to help my spirits comes to my rescue. Thanks JL and everyone

Michael your behind with ace jack against pocket 10s
@Michael-hr5wf4 жыл бұрын
@@2eyesofthe4 yes your right I'm behind pre and I'm fine if it ran out bricks and I lose and I'm out, I'm more talking about flopping it and being head and the turn and river have been the dagger in sending me home over and over. I guess it's part of the game and just unfortunate. Hey thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

Idk man .. maybe don’t ship it for your tournament life with ace jack ? Lol

I can’t think of many scerarios were I’m calling off my stack with ace jack to someone 3 bet shove all in pre
@joythug374 жыл бұрын
@@2eyesofthe4 He had less then 5 bigs left to call the all in , and 7 bigs to start with... Definitely a shove spot and certainly no way not to call the shove there. Sometimes is just your time to bust.

Some days I play flawless. Then the next day I play like shit and can't win a hand and lose big pots and bad beats. Like yesterday I went all in on AK preflop for 50$. Only one other guy at the table and he calls and flips pocket aces on me. Then the next day flawless. Then the next day back down the drain. Its frustrating. I wish I played smarter every day. Lol 😂

It's not losing that tilts me. It's *insert swear word* getting 'rewarded' for stupid things whilst I'm losing the chance of big cashes.

Just happened again. played four hands got Jack’s up against queens then I got queens versus ace king suited which obviously hit the k on the turn. What the fuck is going on it makes no sense it’s either some paranormal shit or someone in PokerStars doesn’t want me to succeed

I get tilted when LAGs look like they're bluffing, but instead they just hit with their junk hand since their range is so wide and can be anything

I’m tilted when I lose to the same luckbox who bets his 4 outer, gets raised, still hits it. Over and over and over again. I play pro for years and there are only 2 people who do this to me in my casino. I just want them to be somebody else lol. Tired of losing to the same fish. Winning from everyone else and have 12-13bb win rate and still get tilted by that fact 😄

I'm so tilted right now. I play micro stakes because I don't feel like I'm ready for anything bigger, but man, players at PokerStars are lunatics. So I played $5 6 handed Hyper KO, 1st and 2nd place get $7.5 and you get $2.30 for KO. I'm left with 2 other players and have the most chips. They start going all in all the time and spliting the pot like 4 fucking times in a row. I get tilted, put all in with pocket 10s and lose to a god damn set of 3s.
