32.30 That point used to be constantly made by Bart Hanson. It's often good to fast play hands not because they may get outdrawn but because the board can kill your action. Each hand example in this video contains absolutely world class information that is worth a bomb. Ty , Jonathan. Again!

Thanks, Jonathan - started a trial membership a couple weeks ago. Have read no end of poker books, watched no end of training videos, but those quizzes of yours are the nuts. I think it's the immediate feedback which is so useful just purchased one year of 'standard' membership + your cash master class. Convinced that's the best money I'll spend on my education for a while. :-) Good Luck with everything.

Drew Perez I have been using yours and other top pros strategies and theories toward the current game of poker cash game low stakes and have been killing it this year. My mahor breakthrough was winning a 4000$ jackpot in Omaha hi lo at the Orleans, but I have been killing it using TAG positional play exploitatively while understanding concepts of GTO and table dynamics. I often like to check raise middle pair out of position against LAG players this is often a good strategy as we are ahead alot of the time in this situation usually on a clean uncoordinated flop, these are the types of boards LAGs will look to continue on. Thankyou for your content.

Great video as always. Completely agree with how you play the K88 board. One thing I don't think I heard you say... 1. Imo raising that board confuses recreational players. They never believe you have an 8 because they wouldn't play it that way. With no visible draws (Rec players don't really think about backdoors) most of the rec field flats to trap on the turn or river. Looks bluffy to them when you raise. 2. Flatting with a plan to raise turn isn't a great strategy. That line screams strength, even to a Rec player. Not that a Rec is folding AK in this scenario, but they will slow down with KQ and KJ. Love your work, keep going 💪 fellow #KZbinr.

Likewise FISH OFTEN call down with ANY PAIR on the board - so this strategy does not work against calling stations. They either call down with worst pair on the board - or river their pair with A kicker. Thats how it goes - your student would LOOSE big vs the majority of the field I play in.

@@DwightHayles on the turn the k has a 4% chance to hit that other k on the river. Of course there will be suckouts however the majority of the time your trip 8's will win.

Just a quick couple of questions on the K88r board. What flop bluff raises should we have to balance the value raises we have with trip 8s and potentially quads? Or is that not even relevant at these stakes?
@jayjayhooksch1
@jayjayhooksch1 4 жыл бұрын
Because of the perceived strength of the opponent's hand, you don't ever want to be bluffing on this specific board, in this specific formation. If your opponent is good enough to recognize that you shouldn't have a bluffing range in this spot, then any hand is good enough for a bluff since they "know" you have to have an 8 here. Then it's just a leveling war, which is an intangible in poker, so you should probably just have no bluffing range here. But that isnt happening at these stakes anyways.

My opponent is a newb, known to check-raise on the river. Tonight is the night when he knows that we know, and he thinks he will push us off the table regularly. How should I switch up my play on the river to combat this?

why do bad players bet too small every street preflop and turn then bet the pot on the river with the nuts I can't comprehend this. I tend to raise between 2.5 to 2.7x pre and bet 2/3rds pot on flop and turn and value bet the river about 60 percent pot I don't think the bad players have a conception of what the odds are with cards to come. In the hand with 108 and board is 88k just go all in and opponent with ak will call micro players bad players just don't have the capability to fold top pair top kicker they don't care what the board is
@SmileyandFrowney
@SmileyandFrowney 4 жыл бұрын
I tried the whole betting while being check-called, but it doesn’t work. I’ve found that just about every player who makes it to the river has the nuts. Otherwise they would fold to any significant bet.

I don't see what egregious error villain playing 67s made here. His call preflop seems reasonable, he flopped middle pair with backdoor draw so calling small flop bet makes sense, turn is a brick n gives him a gutshot and checked through and river really changes nothing, it's a half pot bet and flush draws missed. Depending on opponent I can certainly see folding the 6 on river but also think 6 may be good often enough to justify the call.
@PokerCoaching
@PokerCoaching 4 жыл бұрын
It's certainly not an egregious error by the opponent. It's just that most small stakes players will never use a hand like this to check-raise river as a bluff allows us to bet thinly for value on rivers.

I dunno, I think you can get 3 streets of value there. If your not worried about getting check raised why not? Kx is the only thing your losing to. Calls with draws on the turn more likely than river by opponent
@PokerCoaching
@PokerCoaching 4 жыл бұрын
There is still a reasonable amount of Kx in villains range. Checking the turn allows you to pot control. For villain's hands worse than 88, it's very unlikely for them to call 3 streets.

in micro stakes in the first example 2c9h is what someone could have. Let them get to the river for almost free, they'll all do it.

also rec players don't think about having the "range advantage". Any 2 cards are playable from any position. in equilab the appropriate range for your opponent is "random". It could be anything from AA to 72o and everything in between.

I had 10s against my op who was aggressive and big stack. He 3 bet me in position and I flat. Flop is A 9 3 (rainbow) and he bets 1/2 pot. I call (I would fold against most here) and a J comes on turn. I check he bets 1/4 pot and I call again. The river is an 8 and I lead for 1/4 pot so I look stronger than I am and I believe I might be good here; I also don't want to have to call 1/2 pot to find out. He makes it 3x my bet, what should I do here?

& the only problem i have with your analyse is that a fish can call you with a 6 or a 4 when you cbet +60% pot ( first hh). sometimes he's going to click you back lead on the turn with air so yes value thin is important but maybe making big value on the flop is go too. Thanks for your video !

Nice video as always. I think that $15 bet is fine at 10:04, it makes it more difficult for the opponent to check-raise you without a good hand. It is interesting (but not focus of your video) that PIO often donks small on the river. For example, if the opponent donked $10 on the river than it loses less against 88 (because 88 never raises) but also can extract some thin value from bluff catchers like AQ. Maybe block-bets can be the focus on some of your next lectures. Here is another PIO example of donking small on the river: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2eQZJd_aZh2f9E Were you the commentator in that WPT video?
