It was glorious. 2016-2019 Ebay had a seller with hundreds in stock at $95 or so each. I was lucky enough to grab 10 of them roughly over the years, but nobody knew what 2020 would do to the market.

Opening an X and Y Evolutions booster box is such a nostalgic experience! The pulls were amazing-especially those Charizards and the full arts. This set always brings back great memories of when it first came out. Can’t wait to see more awesome openings, especially as we get closer to the 10-year mark for Evolutions!

​@@nocturne311What I've gleaned from content creators who dislike the set is basically: 1) It's a reprint set. It was a lazy cash grab by TPCI during the Pokémon Go craze. 2) It was printed into the ground and was everywhere and in everything. No matter what tin or collection box you got, you were gonna get some Evolutions packs. And from my understanding, this went on for a VERY LONG TIME. These may not be the only reasons many old school collectors dislike it but those two gripes are most common in my experience. Personally, I wasn't collecting in 2016 so when I started in 2019 or so, I could still get Evolutions packs at a reasonable price and I had fun with the set. I never opened base set when it came out back in the day either so even more so I thought it was a fun rip.

Yeah but its also the rarity of the boxes. If 20 people want to experience open this one again and there are only 4 boxes left then there is a good chance that like 6-8 people will spend quite a bit, hence the price. You and ke would probably be one of the other 12-14, but that just means we don't bump the price up even higher

Top 3 set of all time for me. It's absolutely my favorite set since WoTC era, because like millions of other people, it brought me back to Pokemon for the first time since 2001. The pandemic was wild in that it caused both Evolutions booster boxes AND singles to skyrocket in value, but watching the graded single overcorrect in my opinion is the craziest part of all of it. Evolutions singles are the most undervalued cards on the entire market and are likely the cards that from now until probably 2026 or 2027 will go up in value more than any other cards.
