You do, but it's in an annuity, just like the big lottery jackpots. The advertised amount is the annuity, the lump sum prize is much smaller.

800K seems like a great offer. 800K invested and earning 5% interest annually would be around 2.1 million in 20 years.

My favorite Kessler moment was in London when his phone wouldn't work and he was bumming Lakers tickets (they were playing in the UK). He asked to borrow my phone since I had a UK number. He said let me know if someone calls. I had some voicemails but I didn't check because was playing. I see a call from Beverly Hills, CA and I answer (this is before every call was a scam). I say, "Hello, who is this?" and then the man calling said, "This is Jerry Buss, who the hell is this?". I said, ahh, you're calling for Chainsaw...I had no clue who he was trying to reach. I walked over to Kessler and he arranged tickets at the box office that night. Let's just say Allen Kessler has the respect of the very top, and Jerry Buss isn't most influential person he has got freebies off of. I had played with Jerry at the Bike before, but he died before I ever saw him again to talk Chainsaw. That's a regret. He used to stake random Laker girls in the poker tournaments. He loved poker more than basketball even I think.

He won that on a $1.25 spin? ( 125 bonus buy yes) but that's winning a million dollars on a $1 lotto ticket. Wow I play on Bovada and they have hot drop jackpots and those get to be 400k+ and I try to win those! hit a 27k jackpot last year...lost it all back of course though

You can tell that chick hangs out with Kessler. I would love to be a fly on the wall while those two look at a menu. Everything must suck. I will always take over 2nd place money with any chop, unless I'm in first place at the time, but even then, I wouldn't automatically reject it. Such a crap shoot. You have to win a huge pot with Q-10 off suite at some point to win a tournament. Take over second all day.

I agree. It makes no sense. Feels like false advertising, especially since the progressive is only a small portion of how much money was lost in the machines.

It is just like the lottery where to get the full amount you have to take it spread over 20 or 30 years. 800k now seems like a great offer...if he did not touch the money and invested it earning 5% (very doable these days)...in 20 years he will have around 2.1 million.

He's on the spectrum. Movies will be made about him. When I last asked him, 127k was his biggest jackpot. He has tons of gamble for comps, but in poker he's a huge nit unless someone talks shit to him, then he plays like a beast. He's never making long term -EV plays. He can say all he wants he was punting for a 3k comp, but he knows the EV.
