Ngl, I'd just do Mudkip+Piplup+Popplio to start. I know it's an obvious starting group, but those three just have amazing secondary types. After lowering their costs enough, add Magikarp to the lineup

Water only was my first challenge run completed. Was able to sweep with a lapras using shell smash, freeze dry, recover, and scald. It's abilities of lightning rod and shell armor make it a tank.

Water was my first run, and I nearly lost so many times cause my team wasn’t diverse. But 1 round before the end I got mega Gyrados. Gyrados shreds dude

I'm not up to water yet in my monotype runs since I'm doing them in the order the menu shows them. I'm up to ground and decided to do something dumb and start with just groudon and nothing else. Went very well. Easily made it to 195. caught 2 excadrills and an ursaluna (which I stupidly didn't get any ground type moves for) and that specific thing has me stuck on 195 because Ivy has a Dhelmise that Ursaluna can't touch. I should also add that I play with retries on for my own sanity, only resetting if I feel softlocked
