Thanks all the support so far! Hopefully you're loving Pokken Tournament DX! Many more videos are in the works and I'll be able to put them out faster now that this giant one is out of the way. What specific topics would you like to see covered in Pokken Basics?

Man as someone who is new to this game and new to the fighting game genre in general, this is amazing. Unfortunately even despite your detailed efforts to explain some of these concepts, I still feel overwhelmed.. but hoping I can eventually learn all of this and play the game at a respectable level. Thanks for putting this (and the whole series to come) together!

Thanks for the positive words. Don't be discouraged, learning my first fighting game, Street Fighter 4, was super overwhelming with all the mechanics. Just try to remember one or two new concepts every time you play and don't rush until you get them down. Have fun!

nice! glad to see people are still sharing Pokkén Basics. You'll learn a lot with the series as I'm still uploading videos in it to this day!

Excellent! Though I should note that CADCing is actually much more easy and consistent if you press the direction BEFORE pressing R! The game puts it in a weird order that provides inconsistent results in the tutorial.
@BadIntent7 жыл бұрын
You're right! Pressing the direction before is indeed the best method, thanks for pointing that out.

I am really liking your Pokken videos, Bad Intent. Compared to the other existing Pokken videos out there, yours is probably the most in-depth and analytical I've ever seen. It seems to me that Pokken borrowed a number of mechanics from the likes of Tekken, Street Fighter, and even Samurai Shodown in terms of the clash mechanic (but in SS, they clash using weapons for a short time, while in Pokken, it's a quick and physical one-hit affair). Although it is too early to ask, do you plan on doing character-specific moveset videos for your channel in the future? I have a general suggestion that I would like to disclose. After watching your discussion on Poke Combos, I recall that a few of the moveset videos list alternate commands for a specific move, but only one example is demonstrated. There's a move by Pikachu that has a command execution of "Y, X OR Y, Y, X OR Y, Y, Y, X," and the user only demonstrated the middle input. If possible, can you demonstrate these alternates? I look forward to watching future videos from you Bad Intent.

Hey, thanks, glad you like them! Yeah there are so many mechanics from other games in here it's really cool. And that's an excellent suggestion. I will put the moveset video idea into my list of planned content, I think it will be really helpful.
@WammyGiveaway7 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate it, Bad Intent. One thing to keep in mind with movesets is that the prompts in the tutorials cover up a part of the animation, specifically for jump attacks. I like how you've set up your presentation, the time marks at the left corner and notes at the bottom. I think there are settings in the game itself that allow you to disable the HUDs, but I'm not really sure of that. The main reason I request for a clean visual is because I'm working on a fan game, and I want to capture as much as their actions as possible for move references. I will explain in private message later about this request in detail.

Thank you, glad the layout helps! And ahhh great point about disabling the HUD. I used to do it in some of my older videos but forgot all about it lol.

[A] ]A[ :) I found a wierd combo for burst SM which is 8X - 2X - and either 6Y - 66 - 4A - Super, or 5YY - Super, or an additional 2X - 2X. In burst mode, Shadow Mewtwo's 8X can send opponents into the air, and has a quick enough recovery to hit them with the Y auto, 2X, or 6Y. But you need to precisely time it to hit them as high as possible if you use 2X. If you go too early, you miss 2X and are now 3/4 screen away, though the opponent is in hard knockdown, so you can use 6Y for Oki. If you are too late, you will whiff 2X and be point blank, or at best, you won't be able to land the full combo, which is over 200 dp for any route shown. Nearly 300. But if you time it right, the opponent will get hit diagonally above your 2X, and stay in the air enough time to land the rest.

I have not heard of the Lockout property before and still don't really understand what it is. From your description, it sounds like it's just a gapless blockstring? For profiling, I've heard the term high crush/low crush being used as well, especially for people more familiar with Tekken.
@BadIntent7 жыл бұрын
Yep high and low crush are equivalents. I used profiling because I played Street Fighter first, but same idea. And yeah the difference with lockouts is it's actually a combo that ends as if it was a true block string. You get put into the same state as if your shield was broken even though you got hit.

Wait do you use the d-pad to moves too or is it the same as the stick pad controls?
