I enjoy your adventure with Poland and my favourite language - I love the humour you "fish out" of my mother tounge...love you for every bit of joy and laughter. Lots of love to you and your both families (!Polish and Americans) and happy Spring and Summer time.

Watching KZbin vlogs, I just discovered your productions. As a Pole living in Canada, I can admit that you are a very penetrating observer. I do not know if someone has already told you this, but I think that this love for Poland is reciprocated back and forth. This is due to your positive attitude towards reality and sensitivity to the nuances wich giving life a flavor. You can teach not one Pole about real patriotism. Thank you for that.

About cherries. We have white (in fact light yellow), red and black cherries, in Poland called 'czereśnia'. However, they differ from a very similar fruit known as 'wiśnia'. There are a number of different kinds of it. My grand-grand-grand-father had a farm south east from Lwów, now Ukraine. One night he dreamed that his place will not be Poland anymore, so with couple of friends, they organise a sell off their farms and they move to Podlasie, the region east from Warsaw. From his place in Ukraine he brought a kind of wiśnia, which is black, very aromatic, a bit bitter sweet and juicy. My dad planted twenty of them around the house, which he had built. All my childhood was climbing wiśnia trees in the summertime.

Nazywają go "George Plenty Onions". Ale to Serb z pochodzenia, więc ma te przyzwyczajenia z Eastern Europe :)

I'm lucky. Living in NY, I am able to get agrest (which you showed, but didn't mention), red and black currents, and occasionaly, porzeczke. The wild strawberries. Yes, Poland does have an abundance of fabulous variety of fruits, and they are simply delicious. Every year, my mother would make tons of jars of different fruit kompots, powidła, syrups, and wine. Nothing like it anywhere. Wish I was back there. Enjoy 😋

You should try a "rabarbar" this isn`t a fruit, in fact but in the summer months it is eaten. It is a stalk of a certain plant called (wait for it) Rabarbar. It is eaten by touching the end of the sugar and taking the bite. Not many Poles people know about it, but I am convinced that you will be delighted with the taste.

I have some apple tree in my garden and some grapevine on balcony, they are DELICIOUS, but, unfortunately, I don't know what variety they are... I have a walnut tree, too :D This year there are TONS of fruit and nuts in our garden! One of my granmas has a small garden, too, not near house, but in another place not so far, she has an apple tree, too, andpear tree... And a green gooseberry, too. And some kind of vegetables :D Blueberries, oh yeah, as kids, we used to walk to the forest and collected blueberries, and we ate them with sugar or sugar and cream later. Once (or I just remember only one time it happend) our granma made some pierogi with blueberries we collected. MMmmmmmmmmmm!!! Yummy!! We sometimes found some wild strawberries (which we called "poziomki") too, and I totally agree with you, that there are NEVER enough of them!

Technically these are bilberries, not blueberries. In some parts of the US they call them huckleberries.

Love My Poland! No! Bilberries - borówki, blueberries - jagody. We distinguish them. Same for "cherries" - the sweet ones we call "czereśnie", the sour - "wiśnie". And they completely different species for us.

@@maciejszymanski2386 the problem is that the word "jagoda" is usually missused/used improperly/has a regional-local meaning. "Jagoda" simply means "berry". Accually many fruit that we wouldent think of as berries are in fact berries - for example watermelons. What you ment is sometimes called "czarna jagoda" known by its proper Polish name "borówka czarna". To make it more complicated in some regions (Podbeskidzie) "borówka czarna" - (that is bilberry/huckelberry/blueberry) is simply called "borówka", while in other regions (most of Poland as far as i know) "borówka" means "borówka brusznica" (lingonberry, partridgeberry or cowberry) which is red and is a differednt subspecies. Also in some regions (Podkarpacie) the word "jagoda" means "borówka czarna" - that is blueberry. Maybe thats where you got that idea from.

That's simply not true. Poland is responsible for around 25% of world production. With Russia producing around 60%. Source: Tridge report. www.tridge.com/intelligences/blackcurrant/production

If you can find that much fruit trees in the wild,I must say that nature is quite preserved in your country. I mean no wild uprooting of trees and forests. Let your children eat the fruit in their natural state. If you can,buy a few acres of land to grow your own fruit and vegetables.
