So good to see the horses back in Krakow and people seemingly getting back to normal. I half wish i had stayed there like yourselves back in March when i got stranded, such a stunning place, thanks for the vlog, safe travels.

It's a shame you didn't stay because we could have gone for a beer once it opened back up! There's still some more Kraków videos to come as Mandy hasn't finished hers yet. 😊

True. Now nice and quiet since it is EUland. We're glad there were no virus restrictions!

Your hot chocolate looked too good and this non-troll was thinking--Why not retrace some of your geographic historical steps -add a few more- all while seeking out the world's best hot chocolate--- and then write a book about those travels? It hasn't been done. So far a few "riding multiple trains" books by Monisha Rajesh (both quite fun) and of course the two classics by Theroux. There's time mate. Do it while you're still young! (

Thank you for the great suggestion, and I have taken it screenshot for future reference! At the moment we're still focusing on building our channel, and enjoying travelling again... but maybe a book could be in the pipeline one day! We don't normally drink hot chocolate, so it might need a different theme! 😀😁 ~ Mandy

I guess emotions were a bit mixed upon finally leaving Kraków. Anticipation with regards to seeing pastures new whilst taking the good memories and memoirs with you! Also amazing to think how much coach travel has evolved over time. In ye old days you were probably lucky to get a seat hehe, ok maybe that's a tad OTT, however look now? Wi-if, movies, hot beverages etc etc. Give it ten years plus maybe you'll be met with...welcome to teleport-travel. Arrival should take approx less than a second. In fact, welcome to your new destination ;-) Thanks again and Frugal-travellers, whenever you're reading this, have a good one! Ps. Liked the hot choc cup motto re travel broadening the mind. Very apt and seeing things firsthand can be replicated via a vlog which is of course great, honestly it is - One of the best travel vlogs out there!
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Mixed emotions regarding leaving Kraków. It was a special time for us there that we'll never forget. We are fortunate bus travel is so comfortable nowadays. I do love to go overland and watch the country change as the miles pass by. Teleporting would be convenient but I fear we'd miss all the fun! 😆 This is why we travel and sometimes I think having some hardship makes it even more rewarding. Speaking of rewarding, your appreciation and kind words really do mean a lot to us. If we can help or entertain or give value to people who watch then it makes the hard work really worthwhile. Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. 😁😁

I was suposed to take that bus journey from Warsaw in Lithuania in June 2016. I got Diahreah/flu in Warsaw so I flew back to London. When I got to Lithuania in November 2016, I couldn't be bothering getting the bus to Poland as I wanted to go through Scandanavia. Although I do love LUXBUS, especially when you ride from Moscow to Tallinn
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
LUXBUS sure is awesome. I only wish the distances were greater so the journey times could be longer! 😆😆

I still don’t know what those weird hat bales are. They’re all over the balkans as well. 🤷♂️ I spent a couple of months in Vilnius and a couple of months in Kaunas/Birstonas for work. It was lovely in the summer. I got a photo in Kaunas of me next to one of those big yellow heads because it had a moustache and I had just grown one for a couple of months 😂

It’s my ambition to travel to all the destinations Lux lists on the side of their bus. So far 5 down. Unfortunately St Petersburg and Minsk are off the table right now.

A totally irrelevant comment - but I just learnt it yesterday and am keen to share it. Polish has a letter in its alphabet that looks similar to an 'L' but is actually closer to a 'w' in pronunciation. So the Polish currency is really the 'zwoty'. Or so I'm told. Nice vid by the way. Thanks.

maddie-first, where in krakow did you get that awesome haircut? love krakow! want to find the plae of your haircut! as for crossing into lithuania without a border check-you are still in the schengen zone. by the way, now that borders have re-opened how much longer are you able to stay in schengen zone during these very unusual times?
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Awwww, thank you!!! I love my new hairstyle - I did it myself, with Lee helping to tidy it up... you'll have to check out the video! :) Oh, and it's Mandy, not Maddie 😀😃 kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWjYYadsr6tqoM0 It was done mainly with the tiniest scissors but also a 29 złoty set of hair clippers that we'd bought at Carrefour at Galería Krakowska in another video :) One friend said it's the best COVID cut she's seen 😀😂 I am just so happy to be going silver - I think my natural colour is amazing and I really love my hair 😃 We're travelling on UK passports so Schengen areas aren't an issue, this year anyway! We were a bit concerned about having spent longer than the normal 3 months permitted in Poland without registering, but that had been waived due to COVID-19. It depends on different countries - I know friends from Brazil have been able to stay in Croatia from March until September, but it's different everywhere.

I’m making that border crossing in 3 days, driving a Latvian registered car. According to the official website a negative test certificate is needed for UK residents but it seems they aren’t checking all vehicles at the crossing so I’ll cross my fingers (I’m in transit to Latvia.) I heard they have increased police patrols in the border area but hopefully they won’t be paying too much attention to Latvian registered cars if driven sensibly! More to follow...
@FrugalTravellers4 жыл бұрын
Good luck! It will be interesting to hear how you get on, so please let us know how you go. The situation has changed a fair bit since we travelled, as cases were much lower then.

@Frugal Travellers Well, I made it across the Polish-Lithuanian border. One police car was parked by the building with its blue light on but they never even looked at me (I think I timed it just before shift change.) No sign of the enhanced patrols on nearby roads either. Next challenge will be crossing the Latvian border tomorrow. UPDATE: Latvian border post was deserted, sailed straight through.Job done!

@@FrugalTravellers I'm guessing next is Riga and lots of options for Riga but couple of bars and museums which stood out for me . (Note most places on a Sunday do a happy hour from lunch through til 3/4....) Folkklubs ala pagrabs is pure awesome. Underground amazing vibe , huge. Restaurant and bar . It's like a cave of rooms just an experience and cheap. Aussie backpackers pub - hostel vibe .over 30 beers but small and busy on weekends they have Games room and happy hour eveynight . There's a fair few decent Musuems - Riga ghetto Just past the old market on outskirts of the old town. The market is worth a visit for a cheap coffee. And a visual experience. Zanis lipke memorial Is a must see. Awe inspiring museum , zanis lipke housed Jewish people during the Holocaust . Over the river and about 10 minutes walk . Quite. Hidden but well worth it .
