it must be the most difficult thing in the WORLD to ignore the human instinct to nurture a lost animal, and especially one as adorable as a baby polar bear! i really admire their resolve. they have the best interests of the animal at heart. i don't know if i could be as strong.

Polar bears are endangered, and this man should have fed him until a permanent solution is found. Caring is not intervention. Humans already overpopulated the planet, destroyed the wildlife natural habitats and poisoned the environment, now that is intervention! Consequently following this cub should have been given the opportunity for survival. Shame on those who do not help these cubs under the disguise of non-intervention!

First of all I'm pretty sure imprinting only happens immediately after birth. Secondly, yeah that's the point: if it's already fucked then take it to a wildlife sanctuary because the species is endangered. Thirdly, if it's already gonna die because it can't take care of itself, how would it imprinting make the situation any worse? It was gonna die anyway. Lastly, what you said doesn't answer my question. There is literally zero reason to not help it.

CataclysmicOreo i know it's been a while and i do get your point but i think the problem is that the man in this video was in that place for WEEKS, not just 1 day or something, but weeks, so if the man fed the cub, the cub would keep coming back for food in stead of going hunt himself and learning, that's how i understood it... but damn man how can somebody refuse to feed such adorable creature, specially after it kept coming back multiple times, it wasn't aggresive AT ALL, like at least pet him haha...

The cub doesn't seem to see any other option than to work with the human he or she found. The cub obviously wants to learn more and is so... good-hearted, if you will. Man I would cry, tears of not weakness but respect and happiness that such things exist. And yes I know polar bears can eat people and are the strongest bears in the world. That would be a good death for me, not some "oh I'm so tired of life, I just give up", but to take my body and nourish the creature properly. Rather that.

Its tempting to try to get it to a zoo. But that photographer is not equipped to do that, out there, in the middle of nowhere. They cannot keep it as a pet-in six months that cute, harmless cub will be unmanageably big-and dangerous! And if it grows fearless of humans, then even if it survives to fend for itself out there, it will one day approach some people, who will understandibly shoot it. Very bleak prospects for that bear, sadly.

For anyone who thinks the man should feed the bear, as much as it pains me as well, he shouldn’t actually feed the bear because ultimately feeding the bear will cause a dependency on humans. What’s more is that this is a cub and developing this dependency could have ultimately doomed it to forever rely on humans instead of fend for itself, which would kill it when said people have left. By letting the cub go on it’s own, they are allowing it to learn to find food on its own no matter how hard it may be so that it can do so again in the future Edit: on the bright side, there’s a slim chance it can survive cuz it’s following the remnants of food left behind by previous bears to feed on
@NaomiCurtis

You piece of craps. You rather let that cub die than help him. You can feed him and send him to be rescued. He's orphaned

He’ll be rescued And then get put in a zoo for people to observe with its freedom lost Forever relying on humans for food and never going back into the wild, they can’t train it to return because it’s a cub so once they imprint on an environment, it’s far more difficult to send them back than adults By letting it go it still has a chance for survival, it’s for the best

No such thing as monsters in nature. Just animals doing what they must to survive, it’s called the circle of life.
